but more seriously- there are two big camera shows each year- but announcements of new models are made before each, and often new models aren't available until months after the shows- so really, new models come out almost any time of year. Also- I saw some terrific deals on cameras during the holiday season, which have since gone away.

Bottom line- it's a fiercely competitive market. Think less about 'time' and more about researching the best models and on-line retailers that are both honest and have great prices. You'll do fine.

If you are thinking about a digital camera, the answer is 'never', because bet your life whatever you buy will be superceded and/or sold at half the price you paid, within 6 months of purchase.

After Christmas and New Years. They are all doing sales and stuff, if you look around you should be able to find one cheap without losing the quality.

Now after Xmas holidays because many in big stores like Walmart would be returning their gifts and they may be on say too.
