Eating is like many other things in life. It has to be done in moderation. Not getting enough nourishment can cause the body to not function properly and therefore you may not grow as much as you should. However, overeating is not going to make you taller, it will only make you fatter. Your body shape and size still have a lot to do with genetics. Eat a good, balanced diet and your body will turn out exactly as it should.

The short answer :sorta

In order to grow you need nutrients, protein, vitamins, calcium, ect. You could possibly take tablets and subsitutes for some of those, BUT you still would NOT grow to your full potential, You need calories to grow. It takes a certain amount of calories to maintain your body, otherwise your body starts to eat muscles and organs, and stops growing, because the taller you are, the more calories you burn.

However, this is only if you decrease your caloric intake by a lot. you have a base amount of calories you need in order to be healthy, and as long as you dont go below it, you should be fine.

For example. Lets say you want to lose weight. you figure out what you eat in an average day(go too ayahoo or google search and type in "calories in food" or "calroies in ______",) find out the number of calories in each food, and add it all together. You have your basic caloric intake. Lets say you eat 2500 calories. Well, then you can decrease to about 2000 Then you should start to lose weight. After a while, you will want to reduce by a bit more untill you gradually get down to about 1200-1700 calories (dont go below 1200 calories, or you wont have enough to eat to grow) Once you have a healthy weight. you can then go on the internet and research how many calories you should eat to maintain your weight.
