My belief is that is does not. I do believe he got what he deserved. I'm not a big fan or killing people, but certainly if you are gonna execute people, he'd be the kind of person one would execute.

My feeling is that some may take "advantage" in a very short period of his execution as an "excuse" but they are not really fighting for Saddam. They are fighting for various agendas, many of which existed before Saddam was even born.

Please let me know your feelings.

Yes, of course it will. In their infinite wisdom, the Shiite Iraqis made the execution a sectarian religious event complete with Muqtada al Sadr cheerleaders, videotaped their cheerleaders chanting "Muqtada" and released the video. All on a significant Muslim holiday....... This is going to exacerbate the situation on the ground, without any doubt. It is going to be an ugly year in Iraq.

Saddam's execution will not affect the civil war one way or the other. And yes, it is a civil war no matter what Bush and the boys say.

This event may give the Shites a little reason to celebrate but in the end, the fighting will only go on as it has for hundreds of years. There will be no "advantage" so to speak of. The killing will continue until one side is totally wiped out or is no longer strong enough to resist. And then Iran steps in to pick up the pieces.

I'd say the Bush admin and the Govs of the world are right on track with the time scale I have of the world being destroyed by there ignorance of things... The real question is how will it be destroyed? HAARP splitting the earth in 2? CERN building a stable black hole accidently? Or nukes from kingdom come? Why not all 3 and more :/

I think it willhave some overall effects

The Iraqi People now know for sure there is NO way Saddam can come back into power now... I think there was always a lingering fear if the US pulled out and some events played out he could have been released and aquired power againt to take vengence on anyone who supported his capture. It may not be a big change but it is definatly a change for the better

it somewhat is a catastrophe. issues have been already undesirable with the aid of fact of sanctions, and because we assisted Saddam to stay in potential and to attack Iran; now issues are worse, and likely gets worse nonetheless, no count number if we live there or no longer. No-you could administration the area, inclusive of no longer Iran and Syria, and no one is conscious what the end result would be - which it distinctly frightening for each individual interior the area, and for absolutely everyone this is apprehensive approximately jihadists getting a real potential base. My coronary heart is going out to the suffering human beings of Iraq, who did no longer something to convey this on themselves (aside from sh!ts like Saddam for sure).

I'd have to agree. Obviously there will be protests and maybe killing in the short term as a result of the execution but I don't think it'll make a lasting difference.

Not in the very least, because what is going on before is going on now. Atrocities don't stop because one tyrant is eliminated. There is always some one to take Saddam's place. If Bin Laden is captured and executed, there will be others to stepin and take his place.

Murder is defined as 'unlawful killing'. The war in which the US is embroiled has been deemed as unlawful by the International Criminal Court. Therefore, the capture and hanging of Saddam was carried out unlawfully. Since when is murder a justified punishment for murder? Aren't we better than that? How can we justify our actions?

Having said that, I believe - just as you do - that the execution will be used by factions for their own purposes. People will continue to commit attrocities in his name - against the US.

There might be some protests and repercussions, but with the death of a person institutions never die. There is an old proverb "King is dead long live the king".
