Tapping wood is not practicle. But you can get Nylon inserts. If you can't find them at a larger billiard store. Then go to Home depot, You should be able to find exactly what You need. It will help to use a thin Nylon washer between the two pieces. This will help prevent overtightening! You will also be able to break, with the stick. Many two piece cue sticks that do not have a nylon washer/spacer . will crack if used to break. Hope this helps you. : )
