Nobody wants them to act more mature for their age.The problem is that most parents consider their children less mature than they really are.I have been taking care of kids some years and I can say that:
1.A 3-year-old is able to understand what are you talking about and what do you want from him.
2.A 5-year-old is capable of understanding much more than people usually think and has own opinion. He is able to bathe alone and when you leave him at home for 2-3 hours,he is able to understand what you have said him NOT to do.A 5-year-old is also capable of using the phone.
3.A 7-year-old can be left alone at home for 4-5 hours(usually after school before the parents come from work) without making any stupid thing.A 7-year-old knows what to do in emergency cases if you have explained him.You can talk to him and he understands the seriousness of one situation.
4.A 9-year-old is capable of taking care of a little child for 4-5 hours if you let him/her.Also a 9-year-old already understands real problems and if you ask him/her,he/she will have an opinion.
5.Teenagers are more mature then before. They just need a lot of information about teen-problems.
All this ONLY IF you let your child grow up and don't treat him/her as a retarded person until he/she is 10 and over.

I want mychildren to grow into adults at their own pace not too soon but not too slow either I want them to enjoy their childhood and explore in their teen years have a rage and party as youg adults then mature settle down and teach their own kids the same ...I believe in teaching them right from wrong and that every action has a consequence then letting them go to travel ..live and love and to make their own mistakes and to learn

I don't. I want my kids to stay exactly as they are. I do not want them to get bigger and grow into adults. They have no worries or cares in the world right now, except what time is Spongebob on. I dont want them to have to deal with hurt and heartbreak and stress and working and living the life of an adult. Although my life is very fulfilling, not everyone's is. I wish that there was a way I could freeze time and let them be little forever.

there is nothing we can do to prevent them from growing up. it happens. i wish we could hold them as babies a while longer but we can't. we do our best to raise them to be mature and healthy adults so that they will thrive and do well in life. we always want whats best for our children.

I am taking the necessary steps to prevent my children from growing up. So far it is not working. My oldest is 12 and my youngest is 22 months. I just want them to be happy and healthy.
