This is really a version of the classic theological discussion of an activist God who intervenes in every event in the universe versus what is often called the "Clockmaker God" who simply built an elaborate machine and put it in motion. This galactic clock allows a large number of valuables to interact in the almost countless numbers of ways that they can (see the laws of thermodynamics).
If I was still my former Catholic self, I would answer that abortion is part of God's plans for humans to learn the proper and caring way to use free will. This version of God thinks of humanity as children who often need to learn lessons the hard way also war, pestilence and the like.
As a current atheist, I would say that time allows for an almost infinite interaction of variables. Therefore, what can happen, will happen over the long history of time. Therefore, abortion happens because humans have developed the need and technology for it. Until that need no longer exists, abortion will be with us.
What I find intriguing about the abortion issues and the notion of free will is that most organized religion are attempting to neutralize free will around abortio and dictate what appropriate abortion behavior is. A more practical approach might be to eliminate the need for abortion by supporting improved access to birth control and sex education. Humans are driven to have sex to procreate at the very least. Why act like these primal urges can be quelled when they have led us to successfully populate the planet (overpopulate?)? Instead use the good and reliable technology to create a global society where almost every birth is a wanted and planned for birth.

That is an excellent question.
No. If you're referring to plans for us as individuals, God does not have one. Why the does is he unwilling to stop abortions from happening? Well, you might as well ask why was he unwilling to stop the Indian Ocean tsunami, or 9/11. The fact is that it's just a matter of time before God's steps in to set mankind straight. He will usherin a world of peace and justice. He is just allowing humans to learn the truth of Jeremiah 10:23 that tells us that "it does not belong to man who si walking even to direct his own steps." Humans have tried to do without God since Adam & Even disobeyed him. Atheists advocate that God does not even exist, so they live there lives with no accountability to him. That's their right, of course. But now we are seeing the fruits of the choices humans have made.
What God does have, as opposed to a PLAN for individual humans, is a purpose for mankind. I wont' waste your time by quoting scripture, but if you choose to, look up...
Rev 21:3,4
Isaiah 65:21-23
I hope that helps you. Have a great day.

No. There is suffering, abortion, crime, calamities but they are not from God.
People of various religions have gone to their religious leaders and teachers to ask why there is so much suffering. Often, the response is that suffering is God’s will and that he long ago determined everything that would ever happen, including tragic events. Many are told that God’s ways are mysterious or that he brings death upon people—even children—so that he can have them in heaven with him. As you have learned, though, Jehovah God never causes what is bad. The Bible says: “Far be it from the true God to act wickedly, and the Almighty to act unjustly!”—Job 34:10.
Do you know why people make the mistake of blaming God for all the suffering in the world? In many cases, they blame Almighty God because they think that he is the real ruler of this world. They do not know a simple but important truth that the Bible teaches. The real ruler of this world is Satan the Devil.
The Bible clearly states: “The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” (1 John 5:19) When you think about it, does that not make sense? This world reflects the personality of the invisible spirit creature who is “misleading the entire inhabited earth.” (Revelation 12:9) Satan is hateful, deceptive, and cruel. So the world, under his influence, is full of hatred, deceit, and cruelty. That is one reason why there is so much suffering.
A second reason why there is so much suffering is that, mankind has been imperfect and sinful ever since the rebellion in the garden of Eden. Sinful humans tend to struggle for dominance, and this results in wars, oppression, and suffering. (Ecclesiastes 4:1; 8:9)
A third reason for suffering is “time and unforeseen occurrence.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11) In a world without Jehovah as a protective Ruler, people may suffer because they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
-------
He will prevent wickedness,we just have to wait.

This is a very complicated question so it will take a lot for me to try and explain this.
Yes, I do believe that everything that happens is for a reason & part of what you might call "God's plan". It's not that God says "ok, this people are going to murder, these people are going to have abortions, etc. etc." There is a thing called Free Will. When God created humans and they deceived him in the garden of eden, we became creatures with free will. If we follow God then we are living his plan. Sometimes people's lives stray from his plan because they make certain decisions with their free will.
God can't stop abortions from happening because he isn't a puppeteer who controls everything we do. He is a being who looks over us & takes care of us when we ask for him & need him. He is not a controlling God.

the basically plan/objective the Almighty has is for us to make stronger spiritually and study our existence instructions. the reason we see tragedy interior the international is because human beings have not realized their instructions. death and tragedy are basically portion of existence, that's truth...yet terrorist attacks and killing is the end results of folk residing in a decrease state of know-how and making undesirable judgements that bring about suffering. To imagine "oh, that occurred, it would want to were God's will" or "oh, that did not happen, so as that would want to were God's will" is an noticeably juvenile way of searching at existence and is spiritually immature. we'd want to seem at what's, settle for truth, and stay our existence through love and love for others, that's how existence will advance.

There is debate on whether or not all babies go to heaven when they die. But, for the sake of argument, let's say that all babies go to heaven when they die. If that is so, then why would abortion be wrong since it would be sending the person to heaven?
The reason abortion is wrong is because it is taking the life of the unborn child who has committed no wrong. In other words, the child is not being put to death for a sin that it has committed. It is simply being put to death to make someone else's life more convenient.1 It is God who gives life and takes it away. There is an exception though where God makes allowance for capital punishment. "For it [governing authorities] is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath upon the one who practices evil," (Rom. 13:4). This latter condition is, of course, carried out under due process of law and is reserved for those who "practice evil," i.e., murderers, rapists, kidnappers, etc.
The unborn do not fall under this category deserving capital punishment. They are simply unborn, human lives. When people have abortions they are taking into their own hands the taking life that is not permitted by God.
Whether or not aborted babies go to heaven is not the issue because the ends does not justify the means. God is the taker of life, not man.

Yes, everything is in God's perfect plan.
But God's plan is not man's plan.
God's plan includes the world of creation and the world of revelation far beyond man's knowledge. It is quite wrong for judging Him based on our shortsighted vision. The sunflares may kill the whole world, and only He Himself knows why He expresses His love by such way.
We should read the Holy Books to understand His will and His wisdom.

Yes, everything is a part of God's plan. God gives us free will to do what we want to. We can do what He wants us to and not have abortions or we can choose to do what He doesn't want us to do and have them. We don't know why He allows people to make decisions like this but He does, just as He allows the person who chooses to shoot another person to actually do it. Just like in the Garden of Eden. God gave Adam and Eve free will to choose what they wanted to do, they could choose to do what God wanted them to do and not eat of the Tree of Life or they could choose to disobey Him and eat of it which they did. If we had all the answers we would be like God and know everything. But, one day, those who are saved will know why God allows things like this to happen and the ones that chose to disobey Him will be punished.

no sin was not His plan it was our choice.
The Bible tells us that the Genesis creation was "good." There was no sin and therefore no suffering or death. Why then did God give Adam and Eve the ability to sin, knowing full well that they would sin and bring death and pain to the human race? Some believe that if Adam had been created without the ability to chose, then he would have been a "robot." A father cannot make his children love him. They choose to love him because they have a free will. Others point out that humanity would never have seen the depth of the love of God, as displayed in the cross, unless Adam had sinned, and that fact could be one reason why God allowed sin to enter the world.

Gods plan is to give us free will. That in itself makes the notion that He controls everything impossible. Not everybody submits to Him so He has no control over their actions. If He stopped abortions where would be the free will?
