When he/she is tired. What does "bedtime for a 13-year-old" mean?!A 13-year-old is a reasonable person and doesn't need a bed time.He/she will go to sleep without your intervention when he/she is tired and feels sleepy.I understand if it's about a 3-year-old...yes,he/she will need a bedtime at that age...but 13...it has to be his/her decision when to go to bed.If he/she needs to wake up early in the morning,he/she will be sleepy all day if he/she has gne to bed too late. That is easy for a 13-year-old to figure out.And the next night he/she will go to bed earlier just because he/she will know how tired he/she will be if he/she goes to bed too late.

that depends on what time the 13 yo needs to get out of bed...
if the 13yo needs to be up at 7 am then they need to be in bed and asleep by 10pm at the latest which would mean a 9:30pm bed time would be the latest time...
and to achieve a 9:30pm bedtime would require they stop watching telly and start doing the bedtime routine at 9pm....and that would be the latest.... some winding down time between tv and betime is necessary for good sleep

This depends on what time they need to get up. A child under ten needs 10 hours sleep, over ten they need 9 hours of sleep.
As a child approaches his/her teen years and years after studies show that they need more and more rest. Remember to not be so hard on your child for being lazy, their bodies need the rest.
My youngest kids (7 and 6) have an 8:00 bedtime, this is because it takes them a while to fall asleep, they get up at 7. My 11 year old has a 10:00 bedtime and gets up at 7

It depends on when the child has to wake up. Normal kids and adults need 8 hours or less, but teenagers need at least 9-12 hours of sleep because of how much their bodies are growing and changing.
8-9 seems to be the best time, but if you know they stay awake in their room for hours then you may want to consider an earlier time... like 7:30, or just encourage more early evening activity.

I think it depends on the kid, but I would generally say around 9ish. Teens need a lot of sleep (typically 12 hours/night) and since they have to wake up early for school (and going to bed at 7pm is out of the question), I think 9 is a good time.
