Any Whiskas product is absolute trash and I have heard that the pouches are the worst of the worst - something about being overloaded with sugar and other additives. Since you use the term "tinned" rather than canned I suspect you are not in the US. There are many excellent canned foods available to us here in the US and I would not know what the best brands available to you would be.
At least go to www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe's article titled "Selecting a Good Commercial Pet Food" which will help you learn to read labels on cans and bags and make the best choice for your kitten.

Whether you choose hard food or soft I believe it is best if you look around for a brand that does not have by-products or corn. I have have two cats. I switch from purina naturals to Castor & Pollux Natural Ultramix Kitten Formula. You can get the Purina at Walmart and the Ultramix at petco. I love these brands because they have no by-products. As far as soft food goes, I use Hills Science Diet. The Friskies I was buying was giving my oldest cat very loose stools if you know what I mean!!! So I have recently switched to Hills Science Diet and since then her B.M.s have been fine. Just make sure you look around. And remember our little angels wont eat just anything!!!

Evo, Nutro Complete, Felidae. Those are probably the 3 best kibble's on the market. Look at the ingredients on the back of the package. If you see corn then pass it up. As far as wet food goes, anything that you can buy in the grocery store is trash food, it is like feeding your cat "Kitty ice cream" everyday. That is why most cats love grocery store foods, so if your local grocery store carries it, it is mostly fillers and not that great for your kitty.

Science Diet from the vet or Petsmart for crunchies, and their favourite pouches for wet food, if you think Science Diet is going to be too pricey, buy Purina One and Science Diet and mix it in a plastic cereal box so it goes further, also a nice tin of tuna now & then never goes amiss!

for the last 25 years I have kept cat and mine get a complete kibble. The protein levels are much higher. Around 29% as opposed to 9% in tins and pouches. I spoke to my vet a few weeks ago about feeding the cats on kibble alone and he said that if he had a cat, he would only feed it kibble too as it is best for them.

The moist food is fine for your cat. I give mine a small amount every morning and she has dry crunchy cat food foo throughout the day for her teeth. My cat loves the Whiskas pouch food. The pet food companies go through very strict guide lines even more than people food go through. I am sure that your cat's food is quite healthy. My cat likes one small can of fancy feast every morning and Meow Mix dry.As needed . I have an automatic feeder.I give my cat cold bottled water form the fridge.

My two kitties split 1 pouch of whiskas wet food every morning then they have 2 different kinds of dry food that they eat as they wish. I forget who makes it, its the people that make the one with the carnation milk in the purple bag. I always have two different flavors down and i switch out the flavors when they finish a bag.

It really depends on the kind of wet cat food you get. Grocery brands are usually low quality and contain a lot of 'by products.' The more expensive brands like Eukanuba, Science Diet, etc. are better quality. I have fed my 8 yr old tinned cat food primarily and a little dry kibble now and again for his teeth. The down-side of this kind of diet is that the cat can have plaque and tartar build up. Nevertheless, I have chosen to feed him (and my 1 yr old) primarily wet food becuase I lost a cat before - he had chronic UTI and I fed him a dry food diet. I prevent tartar build up in my two cats here by brushing their teeth every day.

I feed my Daisy May on Felix pouches, she won't eat anything else. If the cat is to be fed on wet meat then it is important that they have something like go-cat occasionally sprinkled on top - this helps to prevent tartar building up on their little teeth.
