We are looking for the best value accommodation near the new international airport in Bangkok. This would include motels further away but the costs would have to include taxi fares. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you are trying to keep costs down. It would not behoove you to stay near the airport. Unless you had business near the airport. There are few hotels or motels near the airport now. With the Airport express buses which only cost about 150 baht. You can get to nearly anywhere there are lesser expensive hotels or motels. AE 2 bus will take you to Khao San Road area where you can find hostels and low end hotels.

Check out the rates at www.asiarooms.com for a good selection of hotels in all areas of Bangkok.

If it is NOT a requirement to be around the airport. I would find a hotel or motel that is either near the BTS skytrain or MTA subway. If you want to keep costs down. Though a taxi cab ride will average from 60 to 120 baht each way but, the time involved will be from 30 minutes to and hour. Where as using the skytrain or subway will cost 30 baht or less and maybe take 30 minutes at most for the longest trip on either mode of transportation.

Personally, I stay at the Emerald Hotel for a 4 star luxury at a reasonable price including a buffet breakfast.

Check out the maps on www.bangkoktonight.com or the maps on asiarooms.com and see where you want to stay in comparison to where you want to go. Many of the tourist spots, temples and that are a taxi ride. Much of the shopping you might do is close to the skytrain or subway.

Good luck.

Not much yet but soon there probably will be. Go into town and stay at the Malaysia Hotel and see and enjoy Thai life.
