Like it was said earlier....the military has been recruiting foreigners into the military for years. One of the things that is promised is U.S. citizenship which they can achive after three years of service in the military compared to 5-10 years for someone who just immigrates to the U.S.

I don't know how many foreigners are serving in our military. If I have to guess I would say about 15% Do I think we should allow more that half of the U.S. military to be made up of foreigners...no. But, if we look at it are we not all foreigners? Is not the United States full of people who have immigrated at one point in time and then rised families. Just a thought.

We've always had foreigners in our military. My first unit had 10% roughly made up of Samoans, Cubans, Dominican Republicans, Pueto Ricans, and one Brit (formerly of Royal British Marines). They were hard core and they understood that something great like America was perhaps the only thing worth fighting for.

Tell it to Cindy Sheehan if you don't like other people fighting for your country. Her son probably served with a few. They taught me more than she could what America is to the world. Their opinion counts more who actually defend her with their lives.

Think about it.

In answer to your question, I really don't care what percentage it is as long as they are fighting to uphold our Constitution and way of life and their loyalty lies with the U.S. I will tell you this, though, from my own military experience: We have already been recruiting non-citizens. I had quite a few fellow soldiers who were not citizens from countries like Brazil, Antigua, and one guy from Russia. I even served with a couple Germans. One of the promises that were made to them by the recruiters for joining was that they would be able to get their U.S. citizenship easier by already serving. I think they were lied to, personally.

It is a terrible disappointment that they would have to recruit any. American Citizens should be stepping up to defend themselves. I never thought I would see the day when defense of the Nation is outsourced.

This is common in other countries. You serve X amount of years, you get epediated citizenship. It isn't like we're buying France's army and telling them to fight for us; it's indiviuals stepping forward and saying, I want to be a US citizen and I'm willing to fight and die for it.

They have always allowed foreigners to join. They just have to be here in the USA legally first.

I am totally against any foreign troops in our military. Once a nation resorts to foreign troops, it is doomed. We should fight our own wars. Better still, stay out of wars altogether. The plan should be scrapped.

We have been enlisting members of this country that have green cards and permanent alien registration cards as long as I have been in. Did something change?

They won't, because I wont serve with foreigners. Americans will fight America's wars, nobody else will.
