Hi Sarah - Don't know if this is any use to you, but when I got married 14 years ago, I bought a dress from a closing down sale. Obviously its out of style now. What I'd suggest is going somewhere (if you're in the UK) like Lewis's or Debenhams and seeing what they've got in the sale. If nothing else, it lets you try them on, see what style you do prefer.........(Everyone I know has ended up getting something totally different to what they'd originally thought they wanted).
Hope you're wedding is wonderful.

Most Wedding Shops have plus sizes, not all women are a size 3. The dress can be altered and may have to be any way. Look on the clearance rack. Another alternative would be looking at EBay, you can find some good buys there, and only pay for some alternations to the dress. Some decent thrift stores also have some wedding dresses.

I too am getting married, (may 2008) and i have found ebay to be a godsend! A lot of the dresses are custom made so you will have no problems with sizing. I have gone through all the designer websites and looked at several different dress, once i got an idea of one i liked i searched ebay for something similar or the same. You will also find that you can get most dresses on ebay for only about $200. I have then contacted several previous buyers from that seller to make sure that they are good quailty.
I hope this helps!

where do you live.. ? im too young to know these things... but someone i know got married about 4 years ago at the age of rrrm 20.. and she didnt have much money.. so she tracked down someone who had just graduated with a first from a top fashion college... and as they were just starting out they couldnt charge her loads... they made her a stunning dress which was clasically wedding dressy... but still individual.. she bought all the fabric.. and i think it cost about 350 english pounds. which isnt THAT much for a wedding dress

Davids Bridal has nice dresses for pretty cheap. And I also like Alfred Angelo, the dresses are nice, and they have plus sizes for no extra charge.

davids bridal ... they have $99 dollar sales ... though be warned its a tough crowd and you have to move fast. They will get you on alterations though.
when I did my search there were also warehouse type places locally ... they're not pretty but they had new and current dresses but cheaper because it wasn't a pretty store, it was a warehouse.
Alterations can be expensive so watch out for that as well
congratulations
