Use a converting software like media monkey

I agree with the "Download.com" suggestion, and the Media Monkey software suggestion which is available from the "Download.com" web site. I would stay away from "MusicMatch Jukebox". It disabled my CD/DVD Burner software (NERO).

Media Monkey is much more than a audio format converter, it is a fully functional player / jukebox. You will have access to the audio format converter for a limited time (30 days if I recall) and then you would need to upgrade to the full version for $20 - cheap and definitely worth it.

I recently searched for a "free" program, not to be confused with "free to try" and I gave up, but that's not so say there is nothing out there - just that I couldn't find any ("Open Source / GNU Licensed") absolutely free programs. Again, $20 for Media Monkey Gold was a great bargain.
