I for one think that this is total rubbish! Our house prices are already far more that most ordinary people could dream about now because there's more people than available housing. If we keep getting more and more immigrants here then life will rapidly become intolerable here in the very near future.

The notion that immigration boosts growth confuses size with income. Of course a bigger labour force will produce more output. But it does not increase output and income per head. Indeed, if cheap labour removes the pressure on employers to raise productivity, it will make living standards grow more slowly, as has happened since immigration accelerated. The notion that immigration is necessary to fill "shortages" is plausible but nonsense. For too long the Government has silenced rational debate on immigration by branding any critic a racist. After last week they cannot get away with that any longer. Those who have a positive view of immigrants but happen to believe that beyond a certain point the benefits of immigration are outweighed by the costs should speak out.
Blair's no limit immigration is insanity gone mad, how on earth can government departments calculate any future requirements on this basis.
It is this innate failure of this government's inability to connect the dots that has left our population standing in open-mouthed disbelief at their antics.
As we speak, 400 MILLION people from the EU, have the unassailable RIGHT under EU Law, to come and live in the British Isles.
We are an Island Nation, and only have so much land space.
It cannot go on.
Two more countries are about to join, making that figure of 400 Million leap alarmingly.
In the near future, there are another 13 countries, waiting in the wings, which will make a total of 40 countries, all being told by a dozen or so EU "Commissioners" what their laws must be.
I can see fire and brimstone erupting in short order unless it is stopped.
There's an old saying,.............."Tell someone something often enough, they will believe it"!!!! Its just what this Government was banking on............many gullible people!!

I don't know about it being intolerable here in the very near future I think we are already at the stage of intolerable as seen in the press where more Brits are now leaving the UK than ever because they have had enough of all this. I have to say me included and I also am now looking at leaving the UK for good in the very near future. So I hope that answers your question on the subject of more immigrants coming into the country.

Over the last year there has been a 100% increase in crime and most of it related to immigrants of the latest members of the EU.
I think for me that just about sums up this hopeless government of ours not taking the correct control of it all and the sooner they are out of power the better.

When I was visiting Crawley recently, I noticed very cramped living conditions. Mainly people live in townhouses. Five or so dwellings connected. I also noticed that not far outside of town there is much land that is not developed.
This may be for several reasons:
1. UK roads are narrow and are not condusive to increasing amounts of traffic. Therefore, the Gov. heavily taxes personal vehicles so people live closer to town.
2. They need the land for livestock and farming.
3. Developement is not permitted by the Gov. for the above two reasons.

No, until something changes immigration to the UK needs to be limited. Brits are leaving because they are being displaced by low wage immigrants. Soon, the UK will be an Islamic state.

what can i say, typical ENGLISH.....u think the world is going to end since other ppl want to move to the UK. u think they just come here for the benefits and want to steal ur jobs and housing. HA, u wouldnt know a good thing even if they walk up to ur face and hand u over their money personally.
these ppl from east europe have a right to move anywhere they want in europe, same as we have the right to move there. we r one large economic community. its the same as some1 from leeds has the right to move to bristol. its the same thing.
the difference is that they move here cause the value of the pound is worth more. the come over here and work in jobs that no english man wants to do. they pay their taxes to the UK AND to their own country at the same time. they do NOT recieve benefits since they r not UK citizens, but their taxes go to pay for the lazy ppl in the council estates, sitting drinking, and more than likely taking drugs.
after they work for a few years, they move back to their home and use the money they saved to give themselves a new start in life in their own country.
and the 1s who stay, they become british, so no problem there. the only problem i can see is the illegal immigrants. they r the 1s u should be against, not the fully legal immigrants.
now tell me, where is the so called problem?

We are asking the same question over here in France, for our politicians keep saying we need immigrants to carry on with our economy. They say that our work population is ageing and that w e need fresh blood to pay for our retiring pensions.
Anyway the situation is becoming dangerous with the terrorist problems all over the world and because these people don't want to stick to our rules all the time. Some would like Western countries to become wholly Islamic ones.
I guess we are sharing the same concerns.

..im proud to say i live in a country with people.. from different countries and ith different cultures. ( but the amount of slovenian and polish car washes is my town is stupidly high.... and im sure theres going to be a lot ore romanian and bulgarian ones to come.) people who come to the UK with the intention to work... make a living and integrate into some of our culture are a good idea... in lot of cases.. they do the jobs which british residents think they are too good to do.. and in some cases they are great for the economy... and their chidren in UK schools teaches children to apreciate different culture. what i dont like is the ones who come to britain thinkng they ca have an easy life... and live off benefits, steal and vandalise... the ones you see sitting around not doing any work... while people who work hard who were born here get nothing. it is a 2 sided arguement... but altogether most immigrants in my opinion are good for the UK.
but i think we should do similar to what they do in germany... they let them live here for about 3 months.. and then they have to take basic tests.. in german... to prove they are making an effort learning the language. if thy fail... they have to go back to where they came from.

I live in the USA,illegal immigration has gotten so bad here they are threatening to take our country over http://www.rense.com/general54/colony.htm

Our government takes better care of illegals than they do legal citizens http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1609318/posts They are allowed to break are laws and all our politicians want is to grant them amnesty http://redtape.msnbc.com/2006/03/hidden_cost_of_.html They move here and make ever town they take over look like slums and work for such cheap labor that our citizens are loosing jobs. There is talk of a civil war in our country so many people are fed up.

You should find out what brainwashing means before accusing anyone who holds a different point of view to you of being brainwashed.

Brainwashing was first coined to describe returning prisoners from the Korean war who had undergone severe psychological coercion to make them conform to the dogma being taught them. Their well being, health, even their life could well depend on them submitting.

Today the words 'undue influence' and 'thought reform' are used to describe similar, but much more sophisticated processes in highly controlling groups (cults)

Have the last lot been any good? No, and you'd be a fool to think the new ones'd be different.

Yes, they do fill jobs that people aren't doing, however they are also doing jobs people are doing. With the number of able people unemployed we have in this country, about 1.6 million, it would be much better to get those people into those jobs, even if they don't want to do them, or cutting their benefits if they refuse.
