Hi

Firstly ignore anyone telling you not to propose in a restaurant - if it's what you want to do then great - you know your own mind.

The nicest (and sadly definitely not cheapest) italian restaurant I know is Il Convivio on Ebury Street near Victoria - they are absolutely lovely there and the food is wonderful (especially the black spaghetti with lobster and spring onion - the trick is to have it as a starter - but that's a separate story) - they have a little bar downstairs with about six seats in to go for a drink after your meal.

If you do choose to go there you might want to pop in and tell them before - I'm sure they would be happy to make arrangements like bringing a bottle of champagne over at a prearranged signal or making some special dessert. Of course...you might only want to do this if you're pretty sure she'll say yes.

Anyway - good luck my friend and best wishes.

You could look at the websites for Top Table or Square Meal - you should get honest reviews of restaurants on there. However, for something like proposing to your girlfriend do you want to go to somewhere you've not eaten before - you don't want it to be rubbish... How about asking friends or people you work with if they could recommend a restaurant to you? Good luck!

I personally don't think you need a ring to propose, but I can't speak for your girlfriend. You could just get a cheap ring, and then pick out a more expensive one together. She might appreciate having something to wear right away, but I think you have a good idea to let her choose a ring that she would like.

You could do a search on google and read some reviews. I know one near Harrods, its down a road called Beauchamp Place, sorry cant remember name and Lorenzos is also down there (a very well known celeb restaurant), pricey but great for a proposal!

Assuming neither of you are scared of heights why don't you book a champagne flight on the London Eye and propose up there, then you can go for a meal afterwards - if you're feeling really flush you could hire a whole pod just for you! Good luck, I hope she says "Yes".

I think that the fact that you want to propose to her is sweet but I really don't think that you should do it in a restaurant - it unoriginal and a bit naff to be honest.

Have a think about something that she would really love such as proposing somewhere that means something to you. Where did you go on your first date etc? Where would she really love to go?

I don't mean to sound pessimistic and hope that it goes really well. Best of luck!

Sorry, I dont live in London so cant help, but think it is a wonderful idea and I do hope she says yes. You cant beat cooking a lovely meal yourself though, table laid with candles etc. hot bubbly bath and candles etc. Would do it for me definately xxx
