(of course, this is not ALL Christians, but the great number I have seen and there is)

Usually when I have some Christian "witness" to me, they take this ridiculous morally arrogant stance. They always tell me how sinful my life is and how I don't want to change my immoral ways even though I haven't said a single word about how I live my life. There are more examples, but I don't want to bore you with them. I find it that majority of the Christians I've spoken to bring this moral arrogance to the table. What ever happened to being humble? Do you honestly believe that an Atheist can't live a moral life?

Mate, I agree with you totaly. I am a Christian and I cannot stand hypocrites, and there are a lot of them in churches. I cannot believe that they would tell you how sinful you are. The are sinners too, and if Jesus had not of come into the world we would ALL be going to hell not just the non believers. I am a sinner, and I am saved only because of what Jesus did for me on the cross at Calvary 2000 years ago, as the Romans realy tourcherd so many people on crosses. Peter, one of Jesus's disiples, was crusified on a cross, upside down. Christians are not perfect either, and have no right to tell you that you are sinful. Only God can say that. I would tell you that we are all sinners in need of a savior.and that savior is Jesus. I would also tell you that I had trouble in my faith in 2005 when I became a christian, so I can understand atheists to a point.I know it is hard to believe in something you have not seen. People often say without seeing I cannot have faith, but you also have to understand without faith nobody will see. It is that simple. I used to think this world is all there is, and when you die, that is it. Now I know the truth now. I do know there is a God, His precious Son Jesus, Heaven and Hell. This world is not all there is. God is capable of creating more that this earth. He also created the Heavens and the whole universe. God is real and do not let anybody else convince you otherwise. Please Go read a bible, and you will find the truth there. The bible is not made up as what some people think. Yes it was written by man, by holy spirit inspired. If it was not holy spirit inspired, it would not be the word of God. Moses wrote the first 5 books of the old testament. There have been so much scientific evedence and historical evedince about the bible and have all proven to be true, Please keep an open mind, I did and I am glad I did, because I now know the truth I did not know before. I can tell you honestly, I have seen Jesus in a vision in June of 2005 and he looks nothing like the oil paintings or the movies. He is beautiful. Anyway if you would like to find out more my name is Leanne and my email address is jesusisahoney@yahoo.com.au. God bless and do not listen to hypocrites, I don't.

Depends on who the Christian is. Cant speak for all Christian faiths but some of them (the fundamentalist ones) are much "pushier" than others. I'm Catholic and I think some Christians are nutsos because they have this Holier Than Thou attitude.

But let me throw something out at you. Regarding what you call moral arrogance and etc., look at today's world from the Catholic Church's perspective (I'm Catholic.)

Over the past 40 years or so, the Church's influence on society has waned. As an example consider abortion for a moment. Back in say the 1950s, if a Catholic woman became pregnant outside marriage or whatever, abortion wasnt the option. Basically, she "went to live with her uncle" and came back a few months later. She gave birth and the Catholic Church would find a home for the child. To the Church, this is the moral thing to do.

What happens today? Now a woman does not have to give birth to a child if she doesnt want to. In fact it is safe to say that more babies are terminated than are put up for adoption. In the Church's eyes, that's a travesty. And it is a prime example of how the Church's influence has weakened over recent decades.

So if you look at it from the Church's point of view, some parts of modern society are arrogant and immoral. After all, the argument would go, wouldnt you rather see a baby placed in a loving home than terminated? Pope Benedict often talks about the perils of "moral relativism". People shouldnt pick which morals they adhere to and which ones can be ignored and its the Church that is the arbiter of morality.

At the end of the day, I do not want to lecture anyone nor want to be lectured by some kooks. So I agree with you 100% that tolerance is key and some people ought to just stfu! But before you accuse Christianity of arrogance you should consider the "I-Know-What's-Best-For-the World" attitude that more and more people are embracing. You can say that is arrogance defined.

An atheist cannot live a Moral life. Without belief in an absolute source of morality, there are no morals there are just societal agreements on convenient modes of behavior. YOu might live by these convenient modes of behavior, but they are devoid of a sense of absolute right and absolute wrong. If they are not, then you're simply illogical.

If I were an atheist I'd stab peole for money and rape at will if I was sure I wouldn't get caught. Why not? One guy has no inherrent worth more than a cow or a roach, and if I can physically overpower a chick, it means I'm strong and me raping her is good for humanity since I'm fit, and my offspring would be fit too. Left ot her own devices, she might chose a mate based on emotion rather than inherent strength and fittness, thus harming humanity.

Now you can talk about how monkeys show ethical behavior. Ignoring the fact they eat their offspring and rape each other, the rest of that behavior is 'cause they're stupid. I'm smart enough to figure out that chemical accidents are worth nothing and it's all about what I like and what feels good to me, because I'm the only thing I can feel, and there is o Judge or Judgment to set things straight if I pass up good opportunities in my one and only life simply by not using my superior strength to take what I want.

When I say I have been saved, I am confessing that I am a sinner.

It is how you look at what they say.

Those who witness to others have usually had the greatest change in their lives when accepting Christ.

They know what a real sinner looks like, because they are/have been one themselves.

They realize that the first thing a person must admit is that they are sinners in need of salvation.
They do not want to see other sinners continue to live their lives without Christ and His blessings.

If you have never sinned, you do not need salvation, you can make it into heaven without Jesus. But then, there is only one that never sinned, so you DO need Jesus.

Good observation, i am not a christian, still i try to explain what would be their mentality. They blindly deserve their follower their God, thay want to show their Love and Faith on their religion , what ever may be the method they dont mind it. Theyu want to express. the one thay forget to mix in it is the love and the words of their Follower, i am Sure their follower would never told HE is the Best and one who doesn't pray will suffer or sinner. It the EGO of the successor who try to mix his mind thoughts to express something better on his God strongly, when this happens in front of huge gathering then it spreads like virus and who ever u have seen are from that gathering. Hope their make them realise He is in ALL and everything but in different forms and religions.

It's not morally arrogant, it's morally correct;there are ways to act and things to do which are correct, and those which are incorrect. If you want to be wrong, of course that's up to you, but I wouldn't Everyone makes mistakes sometimes, even Christians. I think it's funny that non-believers love to point out the mote in a Christian's eye when they have a beam in their own.

You are right of course. An atheist can live a moral life. A sinner can actually be more loving at times than a 'christian.' I like what Gandhi said. I like your Christ but I don't like christians because they are nothing like Him. Mother Teresa was a catholic. I am not a catholic but Mother Teresa I like. She lived like Christ.I don't think of myself as a christian or a catholic or any other religion. I believe in the God of the Bible and I believe in Jesus. I try to live as Jesus did. I fall far short. Therefore I am humble.I hope others will not be turned away from Christ because of 'christians.' God's judgement is on the christians right now and one of the reasons is this arrogance you see. We are not holy. We are not holier that thou. Only God is holy but we are called to be holy. This is a daily walk. sometimes minute to minute but it is worth it to me. Hope you are encouraged. God is love and as a follower of Christ I am called to be a carrier of God's love. I learned that from Mother Teresa. Maybe only one in a thousand who call themselves christians are realy following Christ but Christ is still on the 'throne' of my heart and He is 'worthy of all praise.'

lt just so happens that Christians outnumber the atheists. When they see someone not like them, they "want to help that person change for the better". They are following what is being preached to them; unknowing that what they're doing is annoying to those who do not believe.
l'm sure the same thing will happen if its the atheists who rule the world. The majority rules; like it or not.

I am a sinner who deserves to go to hell, but I've been saved by the grace of God. (Hope that doesn't sound too arrogant.)
The Bible says that none of us measures up to God's standard.
Your morality may impress other people, but that doesn't mean that the almighty, holy, perfect God is impressed.

There are Christians that do take a position of Moral superiority, and they are wrong. There are also a lot of Atheists that take a position of mental superiority, and they are also wrong. To state your beliefs is your right, to act as if anyone else's or any other belief but yours is the only intelligent possibility, is to show your lack of intelligence.
