From what I saw on that grainey video, he died a man's man. Didn't faint, cry or beg for mercy. And his "go to hell" just before the drop was classic. I thought he deserved to die, but I admire his pluck in facing death.

The loyal to Commander Bush have spoken.
I think that Saddam met his end with about as much dignity as anybody could muster.

I wonder if those cheering his death here realize that the guards were chanting the name of Muqtada al Sadre, the Leader of the Mahdi Militia when they were hanging Saddam.

The Mahdi Militia is one of the sects that was killing most of the American soldiers until the Maliki Government armed them with USA weapons and turned them loose on the Sunnis. They are so well supplied that they are leaving the handcuffs on the bodies so that the Sunni know who is killing them.
In most South American countries which the US invaded the populations were not divisible into sects like in Iraq. The use of terror squads did not immediately create an organized resistance able to arm and retaliate.
The divisions in Iraq have created a different situation. It is not likely to end soon or ever be forgiven. It is more like the Serbians and Croatians.
Saddam's call for all Iraqis to unite was a brave move even if it was the voice of a dead man from the first day in court.
I think he knew that he was a dead man even before his trial started and some of the comments that leaked out show it.

No. I believe that all arab men should be barred from control of a nation as they are completely unable to use this power correctly. Power and Arabs dont mix well and usually creates a dictatorship. The arab people are easily manipulated with a few carefully selected phrases and shows of unity and can then be under absolute rule for decades in which the begin to believe this is the better way of life. If there is a god and its a big IF IMHO why would he put people on earth to do nothing but worship him if he is all loving and all that? Sounds like a dictatorship to me. You can still believe in god but at the same time its possible to modernise a country. Some arab nations look like they did 2000 years ago whilst european nations which were tribal at the time are at the forefront of world affairs, and the US is even further apart. Its a shame that whilst most of the world is moving on the Arabs are falling further behind because of there stubboness. Remember all countries started off in poverty, had struggles and had to go through hard times but in the end it was worth it for the people not for a god whom no proof for or against is available. How any arab can feel dignity because of something Sadam Hussain said should be ashamed of them selves

The courageous American soldiers found the cowardly tyrant scumbag, Hussein, hiding in an underground hole like a scared little *****.

This is how the Muslim world fights: Instead of wearing uniforms and facing their foes as real men (as the Americans and British do, and in accordance with all recognized rules of engagement i.e. Geneva Convention), they run away and later plant roadside bombs so they don't have to confront more honorable fighters. Or, they blow themselves up and take a bunch of innocent women and children and bystanders with them, as if that were some kind of brave act for Allah or whatever. What a bunch of underdeveloped lowlife vermin.

He was a dictator! It takes more guts to be a leader of free people with a free press than it takes to be a dictator. A dictator is basically an overgrown 5-year old spoiled brat who wants everything his way.

He gased Kurds for wanting Independence, and if anyone complained, he killed them. That's real gutsy!

Liberals love dictators because they envy the raw power to impose their views on the masses. Gutsy isn't losing a lot of elections and seeing that the only way to win is to embrace dictatorship.

(The only american prisoner in the U.S. convicted of killing more people than George W. Bush is Tim McVeigh ?)

It didn't take Saddam "a lot of guts" to poison-gas 180,000 Kurds.

He hid in a hole to try and evade capture, like Hitler - no I don't think he had a lot of guts.

No.
He was a sociopathic megalomaniac!
He didn't "give" anybody anything.
He was ordered hung and his only remaining appeal was rejected.
End of story.
End of Saddam.
