I have a Kodak Easy Share digital camera. Great photos, easy to use, not too expensive. And it uses the SD cards, and many computers now have an SD slot built right in!
Where to get one in the UK? Now that I don't know, but eBay is always an option.

Go to a decent camera shop, with your budget I'd try a chain like Jessops. Try the cameras out first, at this price they can be a bit fiddly so you want to be comfortable holding it and using it, they has a more to do with how good your pictures will be then megapixels. Then either buy it there, or else use a price comparison site like kelkoo to find the cheapest deal for you. Casio will be good, and Olympus for that price.

Depends on whether you want a small compact camera or a bigger camera with changeable lens. Points that you may wish to consider:
Am I going to manipulate the images myself?
How big do I want the prints to be?
Fuji, Sony, Canon, Nikon and Olympus all have good optics and a full range of cameras from compact to SLR formats. Remember that bigger prints need a good pixel size. With digital cameras quality is dependant upon optics and pixel size. When all said and done you finished images will only be as good as your printer. Try Jessops and Warehouse express. both with give you fairly sound advice. Alternatively try 'WHICH' who have run surveys on various compact cameras.

I use the Sony W70. You can make movies with it. For that it's good to buy a 1 or 2 GB memory card. The cam is easy to handle.

hands down one of the Sony Cybershot series. The DSC-T50, T30 or T10 are excellent choices. The Cannon SD600 IS, 700 IS, and 800 IS are good as well.

read the reviews. You can not find <£150 w/ a Carl Zeiss 3x optical zoom lens and High Sensitivity Mode (ISO 1000). It has the best lense maker found on very expensive cameras.

Sony are good. S600 is on offer for £119.00 at Argos. But buy a memory stick as the internal memory is not enough.

One big thing to look for is the batteries. Are the batteries the type you can purchase anywhere? You don't want to be in the middle of a shoot, and the batteries go dead.
