Completely alone? Maybe, but it would take the will power of a saint. Without doctors? It's definatly possible, just so long as you have the love and support from family/friends.
Also keep in mind that no one can help you if you don't want to help yourself. Once you convince yourself 100% that you want to put your heart and soul into getting better, I believe that you can do so. The mind is a very powerful tool.
EDIT: Is there really no one for you to turn to? Email me. I'm a good listener.

I would imagine it can be a lot harder. A problem always looks 10 times worse when you have no one to share it with. However, I think it would depend on the reason for the depression. In some circumstances having loved ones could even make it worse. If it’s caused out of a feeling of failure in life or work having no dependts may make it easier to deal with as you do not feel you are letting anyone else down. Tomorrow is another day and maybe the day to turn things around!.
If this is you? You have to remember that although you may feel alone. Actually you are not. There are thousands of people out there who are in the same position. In today’s world, failure is just around the corner for anyone.” There but for the grace of god go I". I sometimes almost get depressed just thinking about what could happen.
Contact a group like the Samaritans. They well be able to put you in touch with support groups of people in the same position. Once you meet them and become friends, suddenly you are no longer alone. It’s a big step to recovery.
Best of luck to you.

It depends if you are clinically depressed, feeling blue, bored, chemical imbalance.... there are many, many forms of depression or feeling down. It depends on if you are "in the state of mind of being depressed" or if you have a serious chemical imbalance that you have no control over. There needs to be a clinical analysis done, having the symptoms brought to a proper diagnosis. Good Luck and please don't go at it alone, there are far too many people out there that will help and not judge!

Yes. Someone loves everyone-God and Jesus. I overcame depression, but I was very grounded. It was not easy, it took years. Key: all alone in the world-could not have done it w/out God and Christ. If you can and are able, I would recommend some type of help. You will Know if the 'help' is right, the person will be on your side, meds help also.

no,,the trouble with depression,,REAL depression,is that the sufferer spends most of the time in their own head and the more the sufferer does this the worse the thoughts will be,many people who have this disease want to be alone, they do not want outside interference but this is part of the disease and help may not be wanted but has to be given for the sufferer to be able to overcome it.when you feel better it is easy to see what is wrong when you feel 'down' but while in a state of depression you are not able to distinguish between healthy bad,sad moods and when you really do need help.it is always beneficial to have those who care for you and those with the ability to medically help you around!

It depends what you mean by alone - I needed some counselling but apart from that I was alone (I didnt tell my family I was suffering from depression). So yes you can do it but in hindsight I dont know why I hid it - it would be easier with help and support.

It depends on the person. I can't overcome my depression alone (those little white pills my doctor gives me seem to help a lot), but I know people who can. I guess it just depends on the person and how strong you are mentally (not that it means you are weak if you need help to overcome your depression).
For some people it helps to write about it,
for some people it helps to talk about it,
for me it helps to take those little white pills,
for some people it helps just to be alone and think,
for some people it helps just to stay busy.
It depends on the person and what they are willing to do.

Yes you can but get as informed as possible so you can beat it. I have been using the human givens system with my counsellor but they produce some great books as well. Have a look at the website it will help to inspire you. You can get the book on depression from your local library as well.

Honestly, Id say no.
A therapist is always nice, but sometimes, its too expensive and we have no choice, but to kinda swing it without professional advice, but there is one thing that isnt rather costly, and doesnt care about what HMO you have: FRIENDS.
If youre truly depressed in every sense of the word, I think its essential to utilize your friends. Just having a sounding board can do wonders.
