I would hope they would make such a movie nowadays, for the need is greater now! But in reality, the studios are frightened of reactions of mad religious types. I hope some independent film maker would come up with the goods, sooner or later.

Yet last year there was such a faracas at the showing of Jerry Springer the Opera by similar Christian groups. I went to see it in May and laughed myself silly! Do these people have a humour gene removed when they convert?

Don't know which country you are in - in the UK we don't actually have any formal laws saying we have freedom of speech. We have laws against racist abuse and now the new law against inciting religious hatred. Comedians such as Rowan Atkinson protested against the anti religious hatred law, but I think it got passed. This hasn't banned Life of Brian so it could still be made today.

One of the things about LOB was that it wasn't just taking the p*ss out of Xtianity, it was showing the essential silliness of blind faith in any sort of messiah or political cause, and so really does have a message for our times. What I wonder is if anyone could make a movie, or even write a book, making the same point but parodying the life of Mohamed instead??

I think they would make it, and it would cause a big controversy that would cause people who never would have went to see it to go see it, thus making more money for the movie industry.

They wouldn't dare make it about Mohammed, i know THAT...

The Monty Python gang were a bunch of upper class Cambridge twits. In those days the Christian church was a soft target. They knew EXACTLY what they were doing. Let's see them do a "Life of Mohammed" if they are so clever and controversial.

Why not? it was funny, I saw it when it first did the rounds of the cinemas years ago, and had to dodge the placard holding demonstrators, you wouldn't get that today!
