Cervical traction can be beneficial. I heard of people using these Old fashion traction methods, and they are horrible, but there is machine where you are laying down face up and they put your neck into the machine and do the traction.
Or, what i do is i use my hands, patients seem to enjoy it better they are more relax and they trust my hands more than a machine. I start pulling from the mid back all the way up to the cervical area and hold their head with the tips of my fingers making sure im pulling strong enough to release whatever tension is there.
You should try it, go to a physical therapy office and give it a try, or a massage therapist that can give you a cervical massage and traction.
Hope you try it and feel better
Good luck ^i^♥
Here's a site where you can view what the traction machine would look like.☺

Is Neck Traction Safe

I and several others that I know of, went through this med-evil torture devise that should be abolished. Hanging from the head by a door frame, honestly. The Neurologist and neurosurgeon almost laughed me out of the office.
I had a serious damage to most of my cervical spine, and this treatment could have damaged me for life. Without prior knowledge of what they're doing, even doctors should stay in they're own environment.

Stressed or compressed discs between vertebrae, squeezed against nerves in some cases, cause much pain. Neck Traction takes pressure off of disks, and promotes proper spine alignment. Symptoms are eased during use, with the long-term aim to provide enough relief to restore normal disk functioning.
