I had been ill for 4 months now. I have seen consultants and they do not seem to know what it is at the moment. I get bad abdominal pain, a mix of diarrhea and constipation. I also pass mucas with blood through my anus. What could this be? Crohns disease and ucurlative colitis has been ruled out as well as viruses.

I have had a colonoscopy and that would have shown colon cancer.

Hi Footie
Why Natural Colon Cleansing May Save Your Life
liquids and fruit
A thorough natural colon cleansing is a good idea for anyone. The colon is little more than a storage facility for waste and toxins in your body. If the body functioned perfectly, these harmful elements would never accumulate because they would be evacuated on a regular basis. What makes a periodic colon cleanse necessary is the fact that the body does not always get rid of waste in a timely manner. This often occurs because of the processed foods and refined sugars that we consume in our diet as they tend to slow the digestive system—and thus also delay bowel movements.
In time, feces will accumulate and dry along the walls of the digestive tract. Layer upon layer will gather which tends to narrow the opening through the gastrointestinal tract and further slow evacuation. Eventually, a fecal impaction will occur which will cause constipation problems. Laxatives tend to be the standard constipation treatment but they will not provide any kind of bowel cleanse function. Instead, they will stimulate the colon and tend to provide short-term relief from constipation problems but fail to address the underlying problem of accumulated waste along the walls of the gastrointestinal tract.
The layers of accumulated waste will naturally begin to add up and there have been recorded cases of 40 pounds of feces and waste being found in a human colon. At any given time, there are an estimated 8 undigested meals in the colon. Without the periodic use of a natural colon cleanser, this concentrated waste will begin to cause long-term damage to the body. It is believed that colon cancer is caused in most cases by this concentration of waste which is why a natural colon cleanser may very well save your life.
Even for those whom do not contract colon cancer, there are a number of health problems associated with compacted feces in the gastrointestinal tract. The accumulated waste along the walls of the colon and bowel will lead to fecal impaction—a common source of constipation problems. When waste cannot be evacuated from the body in a timely manner, the bacteria and toxins in the waste will be absorbed into the blood stream and can lead to a number of serious health-related problems, such as:
Weakened Immune System
Infective Endocarditis
Increased Risk for Heart Disease
Increased Risk of Stroke
Septicemia
Death
There are a number of bowel cleansing alternatives available that can help eliminate the accumulated feces and waste in the gastrointestinal tract. However, the best colon cleanser is one that is made from all natural ingredients and helps replenish intestinal flora so that the digestive system operates as efficiently as possible. Colon cleansing products made from harsh chemicals and other synthetic lab creations may dissolve compacted feces but they also cause side effects like dehydration—a known cause of constipation.
Best of health to you

Sounds like irritable bowel, the blood could be from piles due to the constipation.
If you are taking any medication this can cause constipation.
Does your stomach swell up to look if you are pregnant, if so ask your Dr for a test( dont know the medical name for it) for the bad bacteria that lives in your stomach, he should know what you are talking about, had same symptoms a few years ago made my life a misery, had test after test and could find nothing wrong, then a nurse suggested this test, had it done came back posative took a course of antibiotics and have been okay since.

Sorry to read about your illness. I suppose that they have ruled out any intolerances to food such as wheat or diary? If not you can get these tests done yourself at Holland and Barrett but it does cost about £50. Worth it though if you can understand what is going on and manage it so that it isn't disrupting your life! - (if it is an intolerance)
Keep going back to your doctor, get second opinions and don't give up until your fixed. All the best!

Get a referral to a gastroenterologist. Not sure of the spelling there. In any case, you need a second round of tests. Something could have been missed.

my mum had this for 2 years and they ruled both them out, then they decided she did have chrones disease. but it could also be irritable bowel syndrome. but more likely to be the latter. get a second opinion on the chrones disease, demand that it be looked into, it is the only way to get anything done now adays.
