there may be some jobs that would maker like hit man. Being a merchant of anykind should stop you from have influence in the Church but not from being a member and serving. (Jesus kicked them out for a reason). Income or education or success should not make much differance. Some jobs would bar one from being and elder is all

I'd say yes, it matters.

If I believe in God, then He tells me to try to do and live the way He has outlined to the best of my ability. That means I would avoid being a bartender, porn shop clerk, etc.

well, if your job is a serial killer, i'm sure he would have serious issues with that. i think he would be lenient with being something like a prositute. as long as you aren't intentionally hurting people, i think it doesn't matter what you do.
