I'm turning 21 this year in 2007, and I'm still being treated as a parents' kid. I need to get out of the house RIGHT NOW! I don't have a driver's license (yet), but I'm in the process of getting it. I still have my second semester of school left until summer (from Jan. 29-May 27). Should I wait until the summer to move out, or is now a good time?

Is money for plane tickets also important for me to consider?

You don't have a drivers' license and you are still in school. So I'm guessing you don't have a job yet and are still dependent on your parents. So stay, do the right thing, finish school, get your license, get a job, move out with all the approval of your parents and show the world that you can have just the tiniest bit of patience and diligence to what you want in this life.
Or move out with no transportation, no identification, no job, no degree, and go live with a friend. Make life hard on yourself.
It's your choice.

You never mentioned if you had a job or not. Best idea is to wait until you have your driver's license. If the college where you go to has dorms, it may be something to consider. If it doesn't you definitely need to make sure you have a job and can support yourself and your bills. Try looking for a place with utilities included, that always helps. But maybe wait until summer and get your license, and in the meantime you can do some research on places to stay. Good luck..

If you really feel deep down that your parents are giving you a hard time then leave, you do have the right to do what you want and how you want...But here is something you should think about before you make that move....First of all don't do anything at this time till you get yourself settled, meaning get your drivers license and get your education, then start looking for a job and a place to stay...You can put up with your parents a little while longer until you get yourself settled and then when the time is right then you owe them no explanation to moving out, you don't have to tell them nothing just go that is all you need to do. But please take my advice and plan first before doing anything that can mess you up down the line...Think, plan and then act!
Good luck!

I think summer would be a good time to move out since that will give your parents time to let you go.Tell your parents that you will be moving out in summer now itself, so it won't come out as a shock to them. And get your driver's license before you move out.

Um, your 20 years old - take boxes put your stuff in it and go.
But, realize that once you walk out that door as an adult you will have to be financially responsible for yourself. Don't expect that because you want to be out of the house your parents should or will pay your bills anymore.

If you are going to move out, it isn't a question of "letting", they can't say, "While you are living under my roof", because you don't want to. I personally would keep it on the down low, wait until school ends, and then do whatever you want to.

if you believe that you can handle doing it right now do it. If you feel waiting would be better so you don't have to juggle school and a move then wait. But don't forget to look at your financial situation before anything.

Why don't you have your license yet?! Why are you still at home?! Get out! You should have moved out a couple years ago.
