The logical answer is reading but you have to absorb the knowledge you are reading. My knowledge improved tremendously by doing and entering General Knowledge crossword puzzles, sometimes I would search for hours to find one answer but because it took me so long that knowledge remained in my head.

Another answer to you question is 'Rome wasn't built in a day' and your knowledge will increase as you get older. Fact. I know a great deal more now I am 73 than I did when I was 23!!! I also know a lot more than I did last year!!!!
Keep your mind open and you will always learn!!! It can be very exciting..

read newspaper, watch news channels, visit online gk websites like gkgenie, gktoday, gkduniya, indiabrisk, jagranjosh etc.

Another vote for read. Read the daily large city paper or subscribe to the Sunday paper and read that all week, if necessary. (New York Times is great.) Read books. Listen to NPR.

read summaries of articles. watch the discovery channel and other doc channels. watch newnight and question time. and read the indepedant news paper at least once a week

If you are not into reading (like me) why not play games like 30 seconds... Its funny and you and your friends help each other alot... Watching tv is also good, discovery channels or history channel...

Don't just read any old crap. Read things like encyclopedias and atlas's, with pictures to make learning enjoyable.

why don't you watch the Discovery or National Geographic. That should help. You'll learn lots of random facts!!!!!
