For On-line transactions u will require a credit card as the debit card won't work there. Debit card is a secured card and linked with your bank account directly, Whereas the Credit card is not linked to ur Bank account it is the Issuing company's (Visa/MasterCard) decision to set ur credit limit and thus Honor the transaction.
Regarding purchase of an airline ticket, U can purchase through debit card from the Airline/Travel agent Counter, not from the Convenience of Ur home.
Alternatively if Net banking facility is available and supported by the Airlines/Travel agencies then u can use Net banking for the same.
Hoping All Ur doubts cleared.

Yes you can as long as there are funds in the account to cover the transaction. I use my all the time for buying airline tickets on line. Any place the accepts VISA and/or MasterCard will accept a VISA or MC debit card.

It sure can! I live in Cali and my mom travels to Florida and other states just about every month and I pay for her trips via debit card. As long as your debit card has a VISA or Mastercard logo on it, you should be fine. Have a good trip!

If your debit card came from a bank, you need to look to see if you have a visa or mastercard logo on the bottom of the card.
If so, you can use that card as a credit card w/o using your pin
