By this I mean things like getting together with the groom and his men, and the rest of the guys, and either going out or sitting around playing video games and drinking booze and laughing about Britney Spears's lack of underwear. I hate them for it, but what I want to know is, why do they DO it? Is it because of some weird, antiquarian desire to just.."be one of the guys"?? Can they *really* be that..shallow?? I just got back from attending the bride's little night-before-the-wedding get-together, and dropping to by the *groom's* little..."get-together." Yeah. At the girls' thing, they were all talking and wrestling with major life issues in marriage, and talking about things like how she needs to study up on ways to please her man, etc... And then I go over to pick up my husband at the groom's thing, and they're swigging whiskey and yowling about demolitions materials and Britney Spears. Wow, deep stuff here, huh?
So. Some help here, please..

I was at a bachelorette party that the bride had to leave to go bail her fiance out of jail from public drunkeness and DUI. It sucks, but yes, for the most part, men are less deep than women-they don't think things to death like we do all the time-maybe I'm dumb-but its kinda refreshing for me sometimes to get away from women overanaylizing everything and having little soap operas and go hang out with a few guy friends. I think they do it out of tradition, I know my fiances groomsmen are doing it for him to celebrate a huge moment in his life because they care adn want to acknoledge it....

My God as Dr Phil would say, "what were you thinking?" why bother going into the Bucks night, no need to go in, hubby [poor sod] could have staggered out.
I can't believe that you actually think all hen's nights are so innocent, from what you said there wasn't a lot of earth shattering thoughts being expressed.
bottom line is that men have as much right to their 'secret men's business' as women do with 'secret women's business"
Chill out Ms perfect & leave him alone.

the groom (or the soon to be dearly departed) are not doing stoopid things, they are mearly doing everything that they can before their impending funeral (or marriage as it were), because after the funeral (or marriage), he will never again be allowed to do anything that he wants ever again (the shrew / devil in drag) the new wife will never allow it !, so he and his friends celebrate the last of his life and a living wake (bachelor party) before his demise !

He's living out the last days of his childhood. These are the things he loved to do when he was a kid. Marriage represents growing up.
Don't criticize. Just know that's how he feels.

hey - if you think having a deep conversations is a nice way to celebrate - good for you: personally, I'm a girl and my gals and I went SHOPPING:) It's supposed to be about having fun and celebrating a change in your life - not about sitting around bored to death discussing how to make a guy happy - there will be PLENTY of time for that.

Doesn't sound like you got the most wonderful man there.
My husband didn't do anything like that prior to our wedding, nor since! I got a mature one!

because thats what they do for fun. men and women are different you know. they arent going to sit there and talk about how to be a better husband. be lucky they arent out at strip clubs cheating on their wives. not to mention...I dunno where your from, but the nights leading up to my wedding I didnt "study up on my man" or talk about stuff like that. just chill out...no big deal.

I dont know why you should bother so much abaout it. It is their nature. May be they find something nice under Britneys legs when she is not wearing u/w. That should not bother you. You do what you like and let the guys do what they like.

we believe its our last chance to be men. and it kinda is without you taking half of our stuff and then some. and dont start with the whole men are shallow thing, women are just as shallow and superficial. its not a gender thing its a type of person thing.
