Under planned new citizenship tests designed by the government to bind a nation of immigrants to common values, would-be Australians will have to demonstrate they know the meaning of mateship, having a go and dinkum. Assuming you pass the tests and move to Australia, you'll probably find yourself flat out like a lizard drinking.

As an Australian, I consider the test itself to be unAustralian. What happened to giving a bloke a fair go.

I had been overseas for about 4 years and when I retrurned about a year ago I founf that our society has shifted to the right. People have started to become mean spirited and small minded. I think this reflects the Howard mentality.

Should immigrants be required to speak English? Yes, just like every immigrant group has done over the centuries. Should the immigrants that come to the U.S. be forced to learn English? Well, unlike immigrants of today most immigrants didn't have to be "FORCED" to learn English, most immigrants "wanted to learn English" because learning English for them was their way of becoming an American and becoming part of this society in bettering their lives. The multiculturalist don't want immigrants to learn English "especially" if they are not white. They see America expecting non white immigrants to learn English as being racist. How typical.. I could be wrong but I think what the Politically Correct multiculturalist really want is for Americans to learn the languages of the immigrants while they get to keep their language and continue to speak own language. The fact that American children are being taught Spanish and are learning Spanish very quickly while Spanish speaking children are put into bilingual classes where after 3 years they still can't have conversation fully in English tells you something.

It's spread to the UK. The new proposed citizenship test is one which most indigenous British people would be had put to pass. Meanwhile the immigrants flooding in from other EU countries don't need to know any English to be allowed to seek work and claim benefits. http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:5wH874kseMMJ:news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4099770.stm+uk+immigrant+test&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1

The Australian government is so out of touch with reality that they are destroying values that used to be Australian, such as being welcoming to and accepting of immigrants, being tolerant and friendly.
