I get an errror message when i start my Laptop up saying -

Windows cannot start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWS\SYSTEM\vgaoem.fon

You can attemp to repair this file by starting Windows setup using the original setup CD-ROM.

It is a Packard Bell computer and i got no Windows disks with it at all. I havnt done anything different to it recently, and just came up with this message out of the blue. HELP!!!!

I assume that the vga part of the file name stands for video graphics adapter. You should be able to download the newest video card drivers and install them to take care of your problem.
First find out what video your machine is running whether it be onboard or an actuall card.

To do this goto -start-run- and type in dxdiag and hit enter. Then click the display tab and in the area labled "device" you should see the first entry is "name" thats your video graphics adapter. now just google search for drivers of that "name" and install them.

try starting up in safe mode as this only uses basic drivers,it looks as tho the graphics drivers are corrupt or missing,if you can start in safe mode use system restore to take you back to a date before the prob started. Or when starting up in safe mode try ,,,,start up with last good configuration that worked .
hope this helps

You have a corrupted system file.

You need a set of legal XP installation disks to fix it.

If you don't have a legal copy of XP go buy one.
