Although she should be thankful that you are the kind of guy who wants to know before what he is getting himself into. She probably took it as you thought she was promiscuous. Or assumed that you thought she was a little easy, when if she was worth it, she would use her brains and understand you are looking out for you and her.

The same reasons why a guy would get offended if he were asked to submit to HIV/STD tests before sex: implied unsafe sexual habits (more than one partner, non-use of protection), or possible intravenous drug use.
If you have to ask, then chances are one of you - or both - needs to come clean.

Somehow a medical test is not the most romantic thing to do before sex. and the test does not ensure that she does not contact AIDS or STD, during the sex act.

Because she think you are saying she sleeps around a lot. She should be thankful that you are concerned about your health. You are getting tested, too, right?

Personally, I think its a great idea. It weeds out the sick and injured. I`d do it if asked.
