I heard that if your hair is a bit dirty and you bleach your hair, it works better then when its clean. is this true?

any colour will hold better when your hair is unwashed. silicone in cheap shampoos can cause colours to "slide" off the hair and can appear uneven. i usually leave my hair a day or two before i get it dyed blonde, the colour seems to stay better than if it was washed before the colour was applied. if you're bleaching your hair make sure you use a purple shampoo and toner so that the hair doesn't get an ugly copper/brassy colour.

Ive always been told the same thing.. as far as bleaching and just general color dying too. Im not sure of why.. but every time I have dyed my hair (which is probably too many times!) I have either read that.. or been instructed by the girls at the beauty supply store that I buy dyes at to do it on unwashed hair.

When you wash your hair, you are showering in chlorine. Chlorine is a bleach and strips your hair of its color and shine. You should install a shower filter. There is a new one coming out which is supposed to be awesome. It's called iWater, and it was designed specifically for hair. It has ion technology to supercharge the water and give your hair more shine.

no not really, but it does protect your scalp from the bleach.

so let your hair get a little dirty, but a lot of oil can cause your hair to bleach unevenly.
