Has anyone used one of the putter-style angle faced chippers? If so, are they any good and is there a brand/model that you would recommend?

Have you ever even heard of a tour player using a chipping club? Have you ever seen one made by Nike, Top Flight, or Calloway? If the answer is no, then it is probably more of a gimick and gadget than not. The chipping club is a neat way to get bad golfers to spend more money on things they don't need. And it is so limited. It only has one loft, so regardless if you need more carry and less roll, or less carry and more roll, you only have one option. I recommend going to a putting green and practicing your chipping with a 6, 7, 8, and 9 iron. Eventully you will develop a solid touch with these clubs which will allow you to put the ball close to the pin when you are off of the green.

Hello DS

Save your money, its not that they arent any good because they are, its just that you allready have several other clubs in your bag that do the same thing.

Gripping down on a 6 or 7 iron gives the same result, a bit further away an 8 iron will do nicely.

The only advantage the chipping club has is that its a bit head heavier but that is negated by the fact that the loft never changes.

You have my opinion, the choice is yours, if the chipper gives you a better attitude and improves your game then I say get it because thats whats important. Just remember , you can only carry 14 clubs.

Chip em close

Hi Rick, There are several materials from which golf club heads are made, but if you want a truly un-dentable head you need to go with Titanium, which is the most expensive material used in building golf club heads and combines light weight and excellent strength. Titanium is used today in the highest end drivers, fairway woods, and hybrid clubs. Do not confuse Titanium with Ti-Alloy.Ti-Alloy golf club heads are mainly Aluminum clubheads manufactured using trace elements of Titanium along with other less dent resistant materials in an attempt to take advantage of the Titanium name. Ti-Alloy products are among the least expensive and are meant for beginners and junior golfers.

If the chipper has 2 faces (so it can be played left or right handed) it is not USGA rules compliant and can't be used for tournament play. Learn to chip with irons and wedges.

Don't bother. It does not count for tournament play and your handicap.
