If you are talking about ulcers or sores in the mouth; my hubby dr. told him that it might happen and to wash your mouth with salt and water. It does help. Chemo brings them on.

where are your ulcers? your stomach?

your stomach has a layer of cells that secrete enzymes that help neutralize stomach acids. the acidity is as high as battery acid (which if you put battery acid on asphalt it'll melt right through there in a few minutes). ulcers can occur because your body isn't producing enough of that enzyme and its irritating parts of your stomach.

People with cancer go through Chemo therapy, and as with other fast producing cells (for example hair and White blood cells) chemo will destroy these cells along with the cancer. The cells that neutralize stomach acid is also produced quickly by the body and is why cancer patients may get ulcers.

You dont have to get chemo to get ulcers. sometimes the body just isn't working quite right and keeping up with controling the acidity level. That's what you're probably confused about.

go to the doctor because there are treatments for it.

also something that may help is munching on one cracker or something small every hour or so. when your stomach is empty the acidity is a bit higher and it will furthur irritate the ulcers.

I was diagnosed with H.Pylori, a bacteria that causes ulcers. I am being treated for the bacteria and am scheduled for surgery to look into the stomach and intestines. I would recommend reading about H.pylori and having a blood test to see if you have the bacteria.
