Well if you want to impress a girl the best gift is an original gift
Sure flowers are nice but are useless after 2-3 days
I'm sure she has enough jewelry
Personally I would give her gummybears. It's original, she can enjoy eating them. And noone can resist gummybears. Of course this is for a date or something of that sort.
If it's for a birthday or christmas or whatever then that depends on the girl. Just make sure you don't buy her something she already has.

for me the Card is most important about any Gift, it can be a preprint card, but if i can tell he thought of me when he picked this particular card for me that means a lot to me. Goes well with a nice watch, a pretty purse (Coach etc. or a nice Tommy Hilfiger or so depending on your age and taste) a nice Perfume, (try to find out what she likes though (even the type of shower Gel she uses could help you find the right fragrance), earrings or a nice electronic gadget. Maybe a day at a spa with a massage for both of you, quality-time together is really something a girl likes with her guy.

Seriously, I would never complain about any gift given from the heart.
If you're getting a gift for someone, not just a woman, look at that persons interests: if they have an ipod, get them a case or an itunes card, if they like coffee, a nice mug for their starbucks, etc.
I'd love to have a diamond tiara, but really, when would I use it?? A gift can be nice, romantic and still be useful if you pay attention to the person you'er giving the gift to.

I really like when it looks as though the guy has put some thought and effort into his gift.something personal.
one of my chrissy gifts of my fiance was a signed poster of dirty dancing(my fav movie of all time!)
