The main thing to know is that there are many different treatments, and the trick is to find the one that helps you. I suggest you check out other similar questions on Answers for details on the type of diet you should follow, etc.
Your doctor will only prescribe some creams for you to use. I think I must have tried them all over the years, with little effect. For many years my only respite was during the summer when I could get a tan (exposure to the sun is good, in small doses). (And whatever you do, steer away from steriod creams.)
However, I recently heard the the Dead Sea is the place to go as the salt in the sea is supposed to work wonders. I wandered into my local health shop, and noticed that they sell Dead Sea Salt, so I bought some, washed with it for three days, and my condition improved immensely. Now I simply use it as part of my daily routine.
You will probably never completely get rid of it, but you can certainly keep it under control.
Good luck.

I have psoriasis for 6 1/2 years now, and the cause is unknown, and really no cure for that. However you can have the good cream such as Dovonex, or this medication call Methotrexate. And the psoriasis is combine as well with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), which I have the both. Psoriasis and stress there not together. See a doctor and have a referal to a Dermatologist. Good luck.

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
The cause of psoriasis is still not known, but experts agree that the skin lesions are the result of inflammation in the dermis and hyperproliferation with abnormal differentiation of the epidermis.
The primary pathologic process likely lies in the immune system, specifically dysregulation of activated T-cell interactions with antigen-presenting cells and overproduction of proinflammatory cytokines. Evidence for this theory derives from the dramatic improvement of severe psoriasis in patients treated with immunosuppressive drugs used in organ transplantation, such as cyclosporine and tacrolimus.
Although a single disease, psoriasis has several morphologic expressions and a full range of severity. The form that psoriasis takes in a patient depends on a combination of genetic influences, environmental factors (eg, trauma and climate), associated diseases (especially infections), and concomitant medications. Certain drugs, including lithium, antimalarials, beta adrenergic blockers, calcium channel blockers, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, and interferons, have been reported to induce psoriasis or aggravate preexisting disease in some patients. Ethanol abuse may prevent an expected response to appropriate therapy of psoriasis. Emotional stress may also cause cutaneous nerve fibers to release peptides. This can evoke inflammation or proliferation, thereby leading to a flare of psoriasis.

I had it for about 3 years over a year ago, I am 31. I went to the doctors, tried about 50 creams, gels, ointments, avoiding food and sun and chemicals. BUT FINALLY I FOUND A CURE!!!! Its called Jurilique Calandular Cream. Found in Myers near the perfume department for around $65. All their products are great, I used it for 2 weeks and it went away along with my pimples and other skin problems. The 100 ml tube is best value for money as the smaller one is not worth it. Use it after your shower daily it lasts just over a month. Try to avoid touching your face during the day and stop washing your face with soap, your skin will become perfect. If you need to wash your face use Jurilique face wash cream, it does the job leaving your skin refreshed. I have not had any sign of psoriasis since and I have cured all skin problems on my family and friends. I enjoy all lifes normal activities and all food and lifestyles now again, I am cured!

Hey there,
Home remedies are the lowest cost treatments for dealing with psoriasis. More often than not, they are all-natural cures and won’t harm you with harsh side-effects. Not all results work for all people and it may take trying a few different remedies to find one that works for you.
You can find some of the most popular home remedies available to treat your psoriasis on this site: http://psoriasis.toptips.org
Hope it helps.

psoriasis is a condition that I doubt will go away completely. It comes and goes. Usually it can be bad when you are stressed. E45 cream can help, but I would go back to your doctor and ask him for a different cream, as some creams work well for some people and not well for others. Ideally try and get to see a dermatologist who will be able to help you a lot more.
