spy doctor is my personal favorite, the new version comes with anti-spyware, pop up blocker and many other functions. you can also make private profiles and keep them securre, spy doctor helps blocks ur private cookies from going to the internet.
Otherwise the new microsoft spy-ware is very average too. you can consider using that get a free download from microsoft.com
hope this helps:)

Installing and trying Spybot and Ad-Aware wont cost you anything except a small amount of MB. If you want to test some others out to decide on buying one considering downloading and installing these programs that have trails, all can remove detected malware even in trial mode.
Trend Micro Anti-Spyware
Spy Sweeper
AVG Anti-Spyware
The only trials I've used of Spy Doctor let you see what it found but not remove it but get that too because trials will make a buying decision easier.
By the way Spy Sweepers trial used to last 30 days but it's now around 15 days.
One of the best ways to decide what kind of program you prefer is from your own experience.

Spy Doctor has the best reviews & the highest detection rate of any other such program.
No program has a 100% detection rate. This is why many if us use 3 or 4 levels of protection.
My own security on the PC I am presently using :
Trend Micro Internet Security
ProtectX Intrusion detection (nails hackers every time !)
Linksys Router Firewall
SpyBot
Ad-Aware SE professional
Microsoft Defender
& most important :
Common Sense
"The best doorlock in the universe will fail to protect you if you keep letting strangers in."
Browse cautiously.
Do not run applications downloaded from obscure sources.
Scan your PC regularly for all malware.
Update all defenition files daily.
Keep personal & financial data off your PC.

I like Spybot Search and Destroy because it has "advanced mode" that allows you to look at the startup processes and see recommendations for ones that are adware. Be very careful when stopping processes from being started. I also like the immunizing and that Spybot is quicker than other programs.
I use Ad-Aware along with Spybot. I also use ccleaner.
That is in addition to avast antivirus and firewall. All of these products are free.

Ad-Aware seems to catch the most spyware and is updated very often. I would actually recomend having more than one anti spyware program as they may catch some the others miss, but if you have to pick one, get Ad-Aware.

Well amongst those three I would have to say AD-AWARE SE PERSONAL.
But I think the best one is Spy Sweeper though its only got a 30 Day Trial.

AD-Aware SE personal is great and easy to use. but its not perfect. My nephew had a load of spyware on his pc that it did not find. for example antivermit is one of them that it will it not remove. and it would do system alerts of fake viruses found and ETC.....
