I know your pain. I have been in the same situation. The over the counter remedies can help somewhat, as can warm packs on your face near the tooth. If you need a root canal or your tooth is abscessed, there isn't probably anything that will help.
If the pain is worse when you lie down, you probably need a root canal.
The cheapest way would be to have a dentist pull the tooth; not the best solution but it is the least expensive. Try calling a few places and see if they will give you time to pay off the bill. I hate to think of you being in such bad pain.

Honestly, I'd get a loan to see the dentist and have the tooth pulled (if you'd need a root canal otherwise) or, if the problem turns out to be a cavity, get the cavity fixed. If you own real-estate, the best technique is to apply for a home-equity loan to use a tiny fraction of your money invested in your home to pay for it...this gives MUCH lower interest rate penalties than, say, using a credit card and going over and usually only takes a few days to enable.
You could always try to apply for government-supplied medical aid (such as a gold card), but the government's processing of such applications is slow and, unless you know someone in government able to do it "on the fly", realistically by the time you get the support/insurance you will have, for example, lost more than its value worth in days at work due to tooth pain. Same goes for insurance plans and plans that prove to be alternatives to insurance plans.
If you are unable to pay the loan back and your credit gets hurt and you can't, for example, apply for a mortgage or other major loan at a good rate in the future, explain to the company you are getting the credit from at that point that you had a debilitating tooth problem and had no choice but to take out the loan or, alternatively, loose your ability to do your job and live properly in the long-term: most loan companies are smart enough to figure out this kind of situation is NOT your fault and give you the same credit as someone who does not have the problem (I should know, I work part-time selling mortgages).
Whatever you do, don't feel guilty about this, it's not your fault you are not an overspender or bad money manager if you get a small loan to relieve something that could easily cost you more than the loan in the long-term in regards to work (even if you pay by credit card and go over), not to mention the tremendous pain of such a thing.

Sorry to hear how much pain your in. If you need help paying your dental bills there is a solution. There is a plan I have that costs me $11.95 a month for dental benefits and that includes, vision. chiropractic care and prescription.
I would look into it. They are not insurance thats why it donest cost and arm and a leg. They are with the BBB and have over 1.5 million customers. You don't have to stay with them. Just sign up for a month and when the work is done cancel. However with it being that cheap I would keep them.
They save you up to 80% on your dental work.
Good luck

You need to see a dentist who can prescribe antibiotics to arrest the infection before it passes into the bone. They may drill it to relieve the pressure, and prescribe antibiotic. Make arrangements for a payment plan. Most dentists are flexible as they care about the well being of thier patients. Tylenol 300mg will probably work best for pain relief, but not for extended use. Be sure to read the label.

You may have a infection and you have to see a doctor. Many dentists will work with you on the cost. if it gets really bad you can even go to an emergency room, they have dentists on call, if you go to a public not private hospital OR they have to help and you can pay the bill in installments.

Call all the dentists in the phone book and see who is the cheapest for pulling a tooth. If you live in a city where there is a dental school ( college or university ) they will do it dirt cheap.
