I have a family trip coming up this weekend and am in need of a new digital camera. But I am having a real hard time choosing from the "Canon Powershot SD800 IS" and "Sony Cybershot DSC-M2". It would be great listening from whom experienced of the cameras (feedbacks). All suggestions are greatly appreciated and much thanks!

There is no comparison. The Canon has it ALL over the Sony in this case. Here's why, with the Canon features always mentioned first:

Introduced 9-06 vs. 9-05.
7.1 MP vs. 5.0 MP. (mega pixels)
ISO to 1600 vs. 400.
Image stabilization vs. none.
Lens opens to 2.8 vs 3.5 - this is significant.
Flash useful up to 13 ft vs. 8½ ft.
3 metering patterns vs. 2.
Uses cheaper, easier to find SD cards vs. Memory Stick Pro.
Offers 3 levels of resolution vs. 2.
Nearly twice the resolution in the monitor in the Canon.

And one of the most important reasons, the Canon has an optical viewfinder and the Sony does not. At least you can shut the monitor off and save your batteries with a real viewfinder, but you don't have that option without one.

4.2 stars vs. 3.5 stars.

The Sony costs almost $100 more, if you can find it.
