I've had a relationship with a girl that's been on and off again for the past 3 years now. We get on great and understand each other really well. Our relationship came to a freeze over a year ago but over the last 12 months we've had lapses of being close again, but a few months ago her old boyfriend who she's known for a long time wants her to join him in moving overseas where they will probably marry.
I love her deeply and I think she may still love me too. Problem is, she seems set on following her ex overseas. I get the feeling it's more out of obligation to him and his family as they have all known each other for so long. I think she does love the guy but she has told me recently that in our relationship we have been able to discuss and do things that she could never do with her old boyfriend.
So, would it be useless to propose to her? I feel as if it's the right thing to do as I want to be with her. However I can't help but feel that it's all going to be in vain.

I have to wonder why the two of you haven't managed to keep things steady over the course of the three years. I'd figure that out before I thought about asking her to marry you.

My women's intuition (for what it's worth) tells me that the reason she could love talking to you so much is because she does like you and admire you and all that essential stuff, but just doesn't feel that sexual spark that everyone's looking for. Could that be the reason?

Letting her know how you feel may be a very good idea, but I would make sure that you could get a refund on the ring. It sounds like she probably already has her mind made up as to what she wants to do. However, if you do not tell her how you feel now, you may regret it later on.

If you feel it's the right thing, you have nothing to lose. She's gone if you don't propose. Maybe she will re-think her options if you tell her how you feel. How you are ready to commit for life to her as her partner. Good luck.

umm well i think you should totally be like yourself in the time you have left with her. and DONT be fake romantic. i think if she sees that she wants someone like you more than her ex then she could say yes to our proposal. i mean like..with girls, even if they think about soemthing for a long time they still wont know the answer. just like...thikn about your relationship and whatever you do, dont be fake and sooo romantic just to get her to like you. because THAT would be in vain cuz she wouldnt really be in love wtih you.l she would just be in lust with the persn she thinks you are.

weather its in vain or not i think you should follow your heart and remind her that your a person she can talk to, laugh with, and love. don't give up the girl until she makes it clear there is nothing between you. you might regret it forever.

You must be in pain over this. But, please know that if someone loves you they don't even THINK of marrying someone else. This is insane what she is doing. She is hurting herself and everyone else. Find someone more stable.

better to give it a try,i mean if you don't do it now, you'll regret it later that why you missed the opportunity
if she said no you can forget her easier(knowing that she don't want to be with you.
