From reading it, it's like being decapitated, and I don't know what it feels like. And anyone who experienced it died, so can't ask them. But some people feel it seconds before they die, and I know your spinal cord can break, the neck, arteries close up, it all depends on how the hanging is done. I just know I want to die peacefully, or at least unexpected.

The noose breaks your neck and this supposedly suppresses the feeling so you won't feel the pain. The rope around your neck blocks the oxygen flow in the two jugulars (2 big veins on the sides of your neck) so no oxygen can go to the brain, which dies without the oxygen and you die.

Well let me put it to you this way ..... Have you ever heard the term "I'll ring your neck" ? Cant breath you die
No air , no heart beat, usually land up with a broken neck as well .... Some people loose their heads in the dropping part . Depends on how heavy you are ......

I agree with the guy above me. I've seen old executions by hanging from the days before they figured out what the "long drop style" as it's called, does to people. Heads pop off like champagne corks and go rolling across the ground...............not a pretty sight.

In the case of Saddam, too quickly. They should have let him down from the gallows slowly, so he would take several minutes to choke to death while he thrashed around in agony, thus experiencing a tiny fraction of the torment he caused all his victims.
There are a small number of humans so evil that they deserve a death like this. Hitler, Stalin, Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush come to mind...

a few things happen.... neck breaks and this disconnects the brain from the heart, causing the heart and lungs to fail. the trachea is cut off - so the brain does not get oxygen.... it is similar to removing the head entirely... it takes about 15 seconds for full brain death i believe. the person may be aware of the situation for about 10-15 seconds before they black out.

There are mainly two reasons
First is chocking
The most important is that when a man is hung the hangs rope will exert pressure on the vertebral which will press against medulla oblongata of brain. Medulla oblongata is the part of the brain that controls involuntary actions like breathing, heartbeat etc. When they will be stopped when pressure is exerted on medulla oblongata

it takes 8 slow minutes to completely passed out and die...your neck becomes elongated and all the blood vessels start popping in your face. Inhumane.
