Sometimes, people need a little tough love... or, in this case, tough un-love.
Your bluntness may sting for awhile, but leading her on and making her think that it's all okay is going to hurt her a lot more for a lot longer.

You can tell her you like her as a friend. If you know a guy who likes her you can let her know about him. You can try to find reasons that aren't her fault and are not because of her appearance. Girls often make themselves always busy when they are faced with this situation (homework, plans, family event, washing her hair). It's better to find a way to talk with her honestly, because you can never have too many friends. If you are interested in someone else you can use that as your reason. Maybe you can ask her advice and help her feel needed. If you are not interested in anyone else then you can say you aren't looking for that kind of friendship. When she calls you can tell her if you have something else demanding your time. If she doesn't take a hint at all then you can check your caller id before answering. Not every idea is right for every person. I'm glad you are looking for a way not to hurt her feelings.

Are you good friends? Try asking her opinion about another girl that you are actually interested in. Confide in her about something like this. She will still feel like a friend but it will let her know you are interested in someone else. Whatever you do, don't lead her on just because you don't want to hurt her feelings. It will just make things hurt worse in the end. Good luck!

Just tell her straightforwardly that you can only think of her as a friend and nothing more. And tell her that you might not be able to talk to her all the time, so she needs to respect your private time and accept that you might need to hang up on her when she calls. If you don't want her to call you at all, don't say sth nasty. Just tell her that you feel uncomfortable talking to her as your GF doesn't like you talking to another girl. I'm sure she understands. I think most girls are sensible and we can take rejections (eventhough we might end up crying for days and nights). Just don't be rude to us.

Be frank with her and let her know that besides being just friend you have no wish to take the relationship to another step. This is not a matter of hurting her but rather allows her a breather to pursue others.

Scheme a plot.
find out where she goes, then accidentally go to a place with a girlfriend (a person you like)...make sure she sees you.
that way you don't want to tell her personally, it just suddenly happen. you got it???
she'll come up with an assumption your dating someone else and then she'll stop calling you.

Just tell her the truth if you want to be friends only then let her know. The truth coming from you would be better then hearing it from someone else. Good luck!!!

LoL. I'll chime in. There's no way to not hurt her feelings. But ya don't have to be mean about it. Just tell her you're not interested. "don't want to hurt yer feelings darlin, but...."
