i mean, honestly, if an angel told you that you were going to have a very special baby, you are a virgin, and told that this is all happening because you have found favor with god... would you think this god-send child could go mad?? Mark 3:21-34

MAGIME, not sure what you mean by that stuff. "look at the whole picture." ok, if the picture is made up of yellow paint strokes can't we assume that the whole picture will be yellow? that is to say, if the individual passages cannot be trusted, how can the entire thing be?

UPSMAN, first i'd like to say that if it cannot mean what it literally says, but requires some "possible" translations, then the entire bible is suspicious! also, "existemi" CAN easily mean "insane," and to be "beside one's self" refers to being "outside of yourself (mind)" It appears the root meaning of this word is "to throw out, displace." It makes sense, then, to claim "out of his mind." Also, the rest of your argument is simply conjecture not founded on what's written there in plain sight; you say "maybe." What is written is clear, they went to collect him because he was crazy.

Narcissistic personality disorder often arises when children are told by their parents incessantly that they are 'special'.

God complex. Not necessarily madness.

And since when is mental illness a reflection on your worth as a person? Huh?

Oh you are reading a man made text written by one of his fruit looped deciples? Really does it matter, everything is structured for interpretation and if you notice there is lots of doubt casted upon things in those words as well. Personally I get the whole picture and I don't quibble about some silly notes written on someones interpretations of someone else feelings. After all she did not write that did she? And why believe those people that were his so-called followers? For some reason I think they were cowards, not to help him more than they did. So many people worship the words of those guys, I am sorry I cant I believe in Jesus and I read between the lines, and no one is going to tell him how he felt, he lived it and died for it.

Dear Sir:

Your presentation of internal inconsistencies within that fiction known as "the Bible" is detrimental to the progress of our psychological experimentation. This process requires strict controls. It never actually says that Mary thought Jesus went crazy. It just says the family came to get jesus because they thought he was 'beside himself' and she came along. In that part of the world family honor is very important. Muslims still have what they call honor killings to this day where they will kill a family member because they feel that member has dishonored the family. Maybe she came along because she was afraid the other family members would do Jesus violence. When Jesus was born the shepherds said a lot of marvelous things about Him and Luke 2:19 says " But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart". That phrase is repeated in other places in the new testament as Mary learns other things about Jesus. Mary knew there was something miraculous about this child but I don't think she knew exactly what it was. She was quite confused because of a lack of information.

Nope. i do not comprehend how human beings have self assurance one area of the bible and in no way the others. If the bible is real Mary change right into a virgin and he or she conceived by the Holy Spirit and he or she had a imaginitive and prescient of an angel and so did Joseph and all that stuff befell. If the bible is fake they're all characters in a fictional tale. Joseph change into not gullible in case you examine the gospel debts his first reaction change into now to not have self assurance her and to divorce her quietly, yet he suggested an angel who instructed him to marry her. Take the tale as is or reject the tale fullyyt yet do not pervert the tale it truly is merely insulting to all of us's intelligence.

No where in that scripture does it say that Mary thought Jesus was crazy. They are saying that the people did not understand his ministry. The Pharisees refused to see that the power Jesus had was from God, but no where does it say anything about Mary, except that she came to see him in verse 34.

I am reading it. I have it front of me now. Tell me the EXACT verse where it says she thought he was crazy. The reference you made was where the religious leaders accused Jesus of being Satan.

I don't think so, but I'd definately be rubbing everyone else's noses in the fact that God chose ME!!!

Sorry, but I think I'd just have to! Can you imagine it? It must have driven Mary almost insane herself!
