there are 2 easy ways to lock it. depending on the OS, if you have windows XP pro, you can just have a username/password for them and you. You are the administrator and they are just a regular user account. the program directory (with the executable) gets no user level security access in security permissions tab when choosing properties, only admin access thus preventing them from running programs which they can't see logged in as themselves.

otherwise there are other (non free) programs which will encrypt the executable and put a password or unlock on it which requires it to be entered to run the program as normal.

I thought all OS' had built in password protection.on my system which is Vista I go to control panel, then user accounts & then create password, so that every time I switch my computer on I have to use my password, not knowing what OS you are using I can only assume you would be able to do the same possibly via a different route. hope this helps

Create a login for each of your kids. Go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Create A New Account

Type in the account name and click on next > choose "limited" then click "create Account".

well you can go to screen saver properties and tick the box that says "on resume, password protect' and set a password. make the time out to 1 minute , so when the children come and move the mouse, they have to know the password before they can do anything to they computer.
