My wife and I went out to dinner tonight, and she stopped eating her dinner about 4/5ths of thew way through it. when she got home she told me that her stomach felt like she over-ate.
35 minutes later she goes into the bathroom and vomits, and comes back out saying that she feels much better. But it only gets worse from there. Within the next 2 hours she goes back 2-3 more times to vomit. Now I know something is wrong. She completely purges her stomach of any remaining dinner food, and is struggling to keep down any Gatorade or water.
I got really worried when she vomited for the 8 or 9th time within 3-4 hours of dinner, so I went and got some Pepto Bismol MAX (the x2 stuff), In hopes that it would calm her stomach. 15 minutes later she proceeds to vomit it up. We're running out of options, and I read after I gave her the PB that I shouldn't have administered a mild anti-emetic, and I should let the possible food poisoning run its course.
But I'm worried: E.R. or No? HELP PLEASE!

No she is not pregnant. She has an IUD and I'm pretty sure it's food poisoning. And what can an ER do for her that;s any better? All I know the last time I went to the ER for food poisoning was that they gave me a strong anti-emetic and then hooked me up to an IV of electrolyte solution. Plus, it's expensive. Mind you this only started 4 hours ago, not 24 so it may continue for another 8 hours or so. And for the genius who thinks I'm continuing to feed her: read the actual question, and don't waste my time trying to boost your point ratio.
Thanks to everyone who is SERIOUSLY trying to help.

Just relax. I know its very dramatic, but as long as she is getting some water into her system, and this dosen't go on until morning, you'll be okay. If she develops a sudden fever, rash, dizziness, or abdominal pain besides the tummy ache (lower abdominal), then head for the ER. Is she bringing anything up, or are they dry heaves? Its important to keep drinking water even if it comes right back up. Just keep in mind, if you do go to the ER, she'll just be sitting there and puking, and you'll have to pay for it.
In the meantime- Call the resturant and tell a manager what happened. Even if you don't want to be confrontational about it, they need to know something is wrong with the food so no one else eats it. Write down all the details you can remember about the night- what she ate, what you ate, drank, who the server was, where you sat, ect. If there is a serious problem later, its all information you'll need. Good luck!

That sounds like a lot of vomitting, a trip to the ER is probably in order. Is there any reason not to go? No insurance, or doesn't she want to go? You could try calling your GP or other healthcare practitioner and get a better advise than we could give here (since they'd almost certainly ask more detailed questions and the like), but the ER sounds like a safer option to me, and chances are they'll tell you to come in anyways if you call them.
Best of luck to both of you and let us know how it went in 'additional comments' when she's all better!

I would rule out the food poisoning. Food is made of many things and her body may just not like someting. Food poisoning is mainly bacteria and the body with out you knowing will fight the bacteria. If the bacteria multiplies faster than the body can fight it then you will get sick, but that takes time not just a few hours. Just keep trying water. And in few hours if it has not stoped then head of to ER. But I would call the ER and just ask if any other complaints have come in or called. If yes get her in.

Keep giving her water(warm) to drink as much as she can take, beware of dehydration. Make a list of all the foods that you ate in last 6 hours. If she continues with vomiting for next 2-3 hours and grows pale then call the doc.dont waste your time asking on yahoo.

I'd say E.R.
It sounds like food poisoning...
BTW, has she had appendectomy? I had it last summer. It all started with being sick many many times. Doctor's first guess was pregnancy! It took too long till they found out what the problem was and by the time complications had occurred and I had to stay in the hospital for a week.
Don't get panicked but indeed - take her to E.R.

Why don't you call the ER and ask their advice about bringing her in? They might have a suggestion about what to do if you don't need to bring her in. Just ask to talk to a nurse when you call! Hope she feels better, and when she can keep liquids down, have her drink. And for a day or two, stay on the BRAT diet--
Bananas
Rice
Applesauce
Toast
Those things digest easily and are bland. Hope she feels better soon!

When my husband went through this I called the posion control number. She said anything taken will give the bacteria something to feed on and they will multiply causing more vomiting. That is why the danger of dehydration. He was week the next day but no more vomiting. She suggested not to take anything and if symptoms grew worse go to the doctor. Maybe look up signs of dehydration. Also, if there is pain and it moves to the right side it could be her appendix.

Is she pregnant? Quit feeding her, she is going to keep throwing up everything you give her. The ER is for emergencies, do you feel that this is a REAL emergency?? If you do then take her in.

Take her to the ER NOW!!! Do not hesitate and wait for another answer...I am an RN. Leave NOW
Do us all a favor and stop asking questions if you don't want logical answers. I am a trained professional, not someone trying to earn points. I understand the ER visits are expensive, but the cost can increase the longer you wait. I know that if my husband was having those symptoms, we'd be halfway to the hospital by now, not online fooling around. I don't mean to sound harsh, but the truth hurts.

Just watch for signs of dehydration, she may need some IV fluids. Obviously food poisoning. Call the restaurant tomorrow for an apology and/or refund.
