A lot of ol -- and sometimes not so old-- paintings from Mexico have these numbers. If you like it, hang it up, don't get rid of it, it COULD be worth something you never know. But I have to say if any other artists are reading this, for heavens sake, PLEASE make your signature legible! I have a couple of old paintings that I love and are very well executed, and they are signed on the bottom and on the back, but everything looks like chicken scratch, and nobody can read it! SO I could have a painting y someone really important but I'll have a heard time finding out or knowing because of messy writing! LOL!

You're spending a lot of time and effort on a painting that is essentially worthless (except to you of course). If you like the painting, hang it on the wall and enjoy it. If you don't, get rid of it. The rest of this research is useless and a waste of your time.
