I am a psychiatrist...(31-7-1980)

lot of reason
1. this time (16-20) adults are developing their ideas ,vission.,perspectives..about their surroundings strongly...
2. they are more affected by their friends.
3.In this time all most all adults thinks that they know more about world than their parrents (due to education or by the support from friends or comments) (this is the time they start to think to be the president of that country or be a superman ..)
4.they are gradually losing their touch with parrents .
5.they think parrent"s advice is not that much affective....

there are more reason ...but i donot have time ...sorry...
if you need more.....

I'm 42 years old, and I would say that one of the problems is listening on both parts. It isn't just the kids that wont listen, sometimes its the parent. My mother was a fair person to talk to, my dad on the other hand was difficult. If I could get my mom to sit still for a second or two we had wonderful conversations but it took work, reminding each other to listen before we answered. Now as a mom I find myself telling my own children one 18 and one 5 to come to me with anything. I will not judge or condemn until I hear all of what they have to say. My daughter calls me daily some times three or four times and comes home off and on during the day just to chat so I guess I got lucky.
Again I think its listening..maybe sit your parents down and tell them that work out a plan on how to have discussions now that your older and not a young child. Show them your ready for adult conversations with them, keep your cool if what they say isn't what you want to hear, filter the information first...Good Luck

I am 23. Before my parents were divorced, I communicated better with my mom than my dad, now that they are divorced, I communicate more with my dad than my mom. Not saying either is better. My problem with my dad when I was younger was that he didn't understand why I would do what I would do. He was fairly strict and it was basically his way or no way at all. My mom was alittle more lenient. Now they are divorced, I think my dad kind of understands me better as a person and why I did the things I did. He appreciates me more now, I think. For my mom, I think she is depressed and has some more problems than what she can really deal with at her age. She is tired of working and raising my sisters 10 year old daughter. Just too much for her. But I still communicate with her, just not as long. She doesn't seem to want to talk for long.

im 17 and its been hell trying to communicate with my parents for the past couple of years i don really know why but im guessing its jus a phase that im going through in my lyfe
back in the days communication was easier with them, we would tlk all the time, either with my dad or my mom, i would practically tell them everything and anything.

now i think the main problem in communication is the ability to actually communicate. this is where u actually listen and listen good to wat is going on. my problem with my parents now is that they always think negative of me i don know why but they do, they always think that im doing bad stuff and things that im not suppose to do and im not even doing it. i hate that. they also like to jump to conclusions whre everything i do is jus a selfish act for myself. i do actually have a brain of my own and i know what is good and what is bad n i think about the ppl around me. they also like to cut me off when im trying to explain what is actually going on and turn it against me. that pisses me off. maybe i would like to be given a little bit of respect not a lot jus that tiny bit of respect that i want on showing what i think.

so i jus give up on trying to communicate with them anymore, i sometimes jus ignore them i know its disrespecting but i only do it sometimes. i tlk little to them anymore and jus agree with what the heck is going on.
ill jus go with the flow for now like the fishes in the river
