Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!

Jehovah's Witnesses love and respect and honor Christ. They do NOT celebrate so-called "Christmas" because "Christmas" does NOT celebrate Christ; "Christmas" celebrates the pagan Saturnalia. Jesus was not even born in December. Nearly all so-called Christmas customs dishonor Christ.

(Jeremiah 10:2-5) This is what Jehovah has said: "Do not learn the way of the nations at all... 3 For the customs of the peoples are just an exhalation, because it is a mere tree out of the forest that one has cut down, the work of the hands of the craftsman with the billhook. 4 With silver and with gold one makes it pretty. With nails and with hammers they fasten them down, that none may reel. ...the doing of any good is not with them."

By contrast, it's tragic that the one holiday Christ actually *DID* ask Christians to commemorate is entirely ignored by almost all of Christendom. It is, of course, the Memorial of Christ's death, sometimes called "the Last Supper" or "the Lord's Evening Meal".

(1 Corinthians 11:23-25, NWT) The Lord Jesus in the night in which he was going to be handed over took a loaf... Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” 25 He did likewise respecting the cup.. Keep doing this... in remembrance of me.”

(1 Cor 11:24, 25, NEB) "Do this as a memorial of me.”

Christ Jesus himself personally celebrated and explained the significance of that Last Supper to his followers (see Matthew 26:26-29). Christians who commemorate the Last Supper have done so on the same Jewish calendar date as Jesus did, Nisan 14, which generally falls between late March and mid-April. Interestingly, Christians in the centuries immediately after Christ's impalement were sometimes called "Quartodecimans" which literally mean "Fourteen-ers", because the early Christians were well-known for this true holy day.

How would Jesus feel to learn that the holiday he commanded was widely ignored, while his so-called followers chose to celebrate a pagan false god and their own traditions of men? We don't need to wonder.

(Matthew 15:6-9) You have made the word of God invalid because of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about you when he said, 8 ‘This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. 9 It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.’”

Actually, if u've ever seen an office christmas party, it's usually everybody(whether they're christian, pagan, atheist, etc) who celebrate and witnesses and certain other groups will not attend.

This question has been asked many times and can be found when the origens of holidays are discussed such as at wikipedia.

edit; Jehovah's Witnesses can enjoy friendship, big dinners with family and exchange presents any time of year when they feel like it such as a wedding anniversary , graduation, or a friendly get- together.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate Christmas, Easter, or any other holiday. They claim to have replaced the Jews and that they are the only ones that have the "truth". They do not believe in patriotism or birthdays and isolate their children from other kids. They shun family members that do not approve of their religion. They have announced and pointed to certain years when they said was the end of this "system of things". When these years passed they make up excuses for why it did not happen. I personally believe this is a cult and not a legitimate religion. I have relatives who are in this cult and they get more wacko as time goes by. One does not even talk to his own mother because she does not approve. The only time they even bother to talk to me is when I talk about the Awake magazines for a few minutes with them. I usually pretend I am interested in conversing about their theology for a few minutes to find out how they are doing so that I can inform their mother, she is elderly and has cancer. One of them owes his ex wife 15,000 in back child support. He does everything he can to get out of paying for his children.

Look up christmas in ANY encyclopedia. Even Wikipedia has a white-washed version of the origin of christmas. You have to scroll down to the bottom. When you get to the part about Saturnalia and such, that is when you get to the origin part.

The celebration is based on Jesus' purported birthdate, and the Bible outlines that Jesus' death is what was so important for humankind. As well, the date is also under dispute (Dec. 25th), so even if they did celebrate his birthdate, it would probably be deemed a different day. As well, there are reasons why they don't celebrate birthdays, period, and these also apply.

They see bithdays as a sign of bad luck. In the bible then Jesus was born King harold (or thats his name) order the death of 1000's of new born childern. Also in the bible there are other refences to the birth of people bringing about bad omens. This is why they don't celebrate birthdays including that of the Jesus because in the bible they had bought about many deaths.

Because they claim Jesus wasn`t born December 25th, but somewhere around April.

And they're bitter. They should just enjoy a great dinner and give and receive presents. We atheist do it, why can't they?

Because it's "pagan", and thus "of the devil".

Seriously, they remind me of the water-boy's mother, everything is "the devil" in one way or another.

So what if Christ's birthday isn't in December, or it's a pagan based holiday. it's still a time to remember Christ and more important, spend time with family and friends.
