I feel like he could have made a little effort, but he doesn't. He knew I got him a gift and even though it wasn't much it's the thought that really counts, Right?

I'm a guy, and if I were with a woman for ten years, first of all, I'd ask her to marry me. Second, if a woman I'd been with for ten years didn't give me something for Christmas, even a bottle of Miller Lite or something, I'd consider her a waste of skin and search for something better.

No -- it's about expectations. You expected a gift and he didn't deliver. You need to talk about your expectations and make them known to him. Every Christmas, my husband and I sit down and set a budget for our Christmas gifts to each other -- that way, we both know what the expectations are, and neither of us are disappointed come Christmas morning or feel guilty for not spending as much as the other person.
Relationships are built on communication. A good relationship is one where the expectations are known and shared.
Tell him now that you were disappointed; he may have no idea how it made you feel, and if you don't tell him, you'll just stew over it and be frustrated at it at Valentine's Day and your birthday and next year...

That's pretty harsh. I think he needs a reality check! After 10 years you should be comfortable enough just to ask him why he didn't get you anything. You are right, it is the thought that counts. He could of wrote you a romantic poem and run you a bubble bath, massaged and brushed your hair and made you breakfast in bed or something. These things are free. Anyway you should just ask him.

I choose the deep conversations. I evaluate myself an psychological, and that i do savour philosophical aspects of existence, so at the same time as someone is waiting and keen to have a deep verbal substitute with me I open it with open palms. The lighthearted conversations are solid for small communicate, regardless of the indisputable fact that the deep conversations are those that I stay for. The very last verbal substitute that i can undergo in concepts that replaced my viewpoint on issues became probable with a lady i have lately met. It became a verbal substitute about relationships, the destiny, and existence. It does open your eyes somewhat more desirable to what's obtainable. :)

Do you usually exchange gifts? Is he in some financial difficulty right now? Don't judge until you have all the facts.

damn yall have been dating for ten years, first of all i think he should have asked the question a long time ago and he is just using you for sex or money probably, thats why he didnt get you anything because he doesnt really care. he thinks that he has you for the rest of his life and hes not really worried about impressing you anymore, so maybe you need to make him stop taking you for granted.
