Fattening foods are foods that contain a high percentage of fats. This also include bad & good fats (saturated & non saturated). Ideally you need to consider the nutritional values on the back of labels. If you want to think healthy anything that is not processing, out of a packet contains less saturated fats than foods that are 'fast' or fried. So any foods that you can eat off the land/sea are ok. Anything that goes through a process to be eaten, cooked, fried etc.. are not as good.

It all comes down to calories and nutrients (what you eat vs what you use - anything unused becomes fat).
Foods that metabolise very quickly will be more fattening. Examples are simple carbs (sugar, white bread, white rice, soft drinks, candy). Foods like icecream and cake are all simple carbs (sugars, white flowers) and fat!
Fat is fattening, but don't cut it ALL out. You need a little.
Foods high in fiber are better for you. Lean protein foods will be pretty good. It takes more energy to metabolize, and contributes to your lean body mass. However, if your muscles do not need the protein you ate, it will turn into fat.
Certain foods are said to take more energy to digest than they provide. Examples are apples, bananas, and broccoli. Sweet fruits such as apples and bananas have more sugar than things like broccoli, though.
Hope this helps.

Don't worry about the same.
Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.

anything fried, battered, glazed, covered in salt, sugary is fattening. As for restraunts avoid fast food. Drinks - alchohol, sodas, anything with the word "diet" since its packed with artificial sweeteners.
