Don't call me selfish ok. I gave half of my paycheck and i don't get much as you can tell. if i had more i would spend more. It's not like the gift had any thought to it, If it was cheap and it had a little thought to it like the color that i liked or our name on it then OK.

If they could afford to get you something decent and they didn't it's called being cheap. It also shows that they didn't care enough and that you weren't even good enough to even merit the time or effort. I'd start wondering what I really meant to this person.
As far as the saying goes "it's the thought that counts"? Yeah, the thought does count! Especially however ill-conceived it is! If you have a thought to spend make it a good thought. Make it something that will be gladly remembered and appreciated. Show the recipient how meaningful and worthwhile the giver considers them to be.

i asked myself the same question this christmas... and guess what i gave my friend a 60 dollar cologne and i didnt get anything... i gave my best friend a pair of socks(which he told me he didnt need but would still use ) and he gave me a nice shirt in exchange, in the end when you buy that gift.. your NEVER thinkign about what you get in return, because if you are thats really shallow and thats not what gifts are about, gifts are about giving and thats it, and im not gona give you its the thought that counts bs but i will say that you felt they deserve the best and you gave them this gift well then that should be enough for you to feel good about urself because you GAVE something, it boils down to love for urself and others, so dont compare gift prices and other peoples gift, just be happy for making someone happy.

I think Christmas is about giving and not receiving. I think it's natural to feel like you were shortchanged but ultimately it was your decision to spend that much money and they couldn't predict that you were going to do that. In fact they may feel guilty for not giving you more after getting such an expensive gift.

I gave my husband a PSP, a game and accessories and I didn't get anything in return. I knew he didn't have the money. We had to buy for five kids. I just wanted to give him a nice Christmas....

If they can afford more, I suppose it is a pretty cheap gift. Some people are stingy with their cash and will give what they want. You should be proud that you put thought into your gift and did it because you wanted to.

Wow.. get over yourself. Little self centred, materialistic and spoiled aren't we? Maybe they did it on purpose because you're such a selfish thing.

Well a gift should be from the heart, not expecting anything back.
