Mahabharata is more about day to day life on this earth
The issues you confront
The dilemmas you face - moral, ethical,
The situations you confront - idealism vs realism
The foes and friends you have - the different personality traits you come across
The causes of conflict etc.,etc.,
The Ramayana also more or less is based on the same motive - to make one understand the complexities of life but with the emphasis that even a king has to face the same issues that a common man does in day to day life
Moreover - " Uneasy lies the Head that wears the Crown "

i think it depends on your thinking. I have watched both and there is alot of difference. The ramayan starts off with the whole idea of the perfect son and how to live life all peacefully and then turns into fights later on. The mahabharath is quite conflicting from the beginning and it seems to be more alive than the ramayan. it also deals with which god(not saying that you should be picky) you are more into. Some are more into ram's beliefs and other's are into Krishna's. I think I personally like the mahabharath better..

Mahabharata tells u the begning of kali yuga and it deals of a battle for righteousness. Ramayana on oter hand is on satyuga and deals with a perfect king as Shree RAM . both are as good its like comparing one jkewel with another of equal potencies.

so one said above. it is really correct. i depends on your thinking. if you want to go in right way. you will follow mahabharath.a. and if you want to go right way without deceiving others you will follow ramayana. but both epics tells about how to live in society.
